A DPD van allegedly crashed into parked cars in Coventry before the driver made a run for it. A resident said they woke up to a loud noise outside his home along Shakespeare Street in Coventry at around 6.20am on Sunday, October 23.
He claimed to have seen a white DPD van crash into his and his neighbour's car before driving away, according to reports. His car was so badly damaged its owner has since been told it is a write off.
He is now unable to work because he does not have a car. A few days later, the resident discovered a DPD van dumped along his street.
The resident believes it is the same DPD van that allegedly collided into his car. Photos show the bonnet of the DPD van smashed up with a flat tyre.
The discarded vehicle still remains along Shakespeare Road.
The resident, who does not wish to be named, told CoventryLive: "The driver dumped it at the end of my road, and it’s still there right now. The damage on the van corresponds exactly with the damage on my car.
"My neighbours also informed me that he was driving erratically. I've reported this information to the police, yet they're just dragging their heels.
"It’s extremely frustrating how DPD are basically denying everything. Without my car, I’ve been unable to work for 2 weeks now as I need it for my job. They owe me.
"I wasn’t aware he had dumped it at the end of my road until one of the driver’s neighbours came round and told me. I then went to investigate, and there it was."
CoventryLive has contacted DPD for comment, and they believe the van may have been stolen prior to the crash. A DPD spokesperson told CoventryLive: "We now believe the vehicle may have been stolen, which would explain why we weren't made aware of the accident (and why the van was on the road at 6:20am on a Sunday)."
