FYI, the preference exercise is not a commitment on your part to redundancy should it be offered. It will be over-subscribed anyway, so anybody changing their mind doesn’t have to worry. Saying yes on a survey without being given exact figures wouldn’t stand up to any legal scrutiny, regardless.

I've had a look through all the comments so apologies if this question has been answered. I'm over 65 so am I right in thinking I'm not eligible for VR? When I put in my age and length of service in the calculator it just comes up as N/A. Looking at it from Royal Mail's perspective, why would they pay anyone who should have retired and will probably go soon anyway.

Any truth in the 'if you have any time off in December (including strike days), you're not eligible for VR'?

Where is that written down? It's certainly not on the App preference exercise or various sheets of paper I got from my manager. So probably a rumour.

Re split service
I'm on my second stint and enquired if both lots count.
The answer suggested it was aggregate time so both stints are eligible, provided they are on a Royal Mail contract and not agency.
Hope this is of help.

They’ll have a hard time filling the 10K they want if that’s true (which it isn’t)😂

Regardless of age everyone should be able to get VR. As there is no such thing as retirement anymore and RM cannot force you to retire, surely it would be more beneficial for them to pay you VR rather than run the risk of you potentially carrying on until you are 80.

Yes you can apply - have you not read the text on the App? There is a separate calculator via a link
