This would be different from team working, I have seen this system work in quite a few industries, its just that the supervisors are working along side the postmen/women and there is a better working relationship. Supervisors would sort out the day-to-day running of their section such as workload, annual leave, lieu leave, days off, etc. However, when it comes to sick absence, disclipnary and grivenances, etc, the shift manager would sort this out not the supervisors.
