Yes i have checked that's why i voted to strike.
Yeah, and some of the times are extreme. I get it, it's not practical to expect 11:30 as a starting time. With the potential for annualised hours on top of that. People are not in a position to accept that, those are just not acceptable.

There are only a handful of extreme cases though, and those should be mitigated as much as possible.

The vast majority of new start times are between 8 and 9am. Is that something people can't adjust to? The feedback in my office and other's in the area, all with start times between 8-9 was "that's not so bad".
How do you pick the kids up from school when you finish at 4pm, or even later, especially with annualised hours? Or are we still going to get an early finish? :chuckle

He starts off by saying we must reach an agreement for the good of the company, with the cwu on board then finishes off with the threat of pulling out of talks if there's another strike. Its contradiction after contradiction. You only act like this if you have zero respect for your employees

Well, you have point. I'm not sure that most would agree though. Times have indeed changed.

Absolutely. This should be a focal point. Simon's complete disrespect for his own workforce. Wouldn't a genuine CEO want to get the 'team' onside?

If they could push everything through that they wanted to, why would they even be in negotiations with our union, with the threat of strike's even 1 day a week, companies will go elsewhere. Shareholders will not stay quiet when the shares start falling, because there's no agreement in sight
If kretinsky makes a bid for the company and hives off royal mail and keeps GLS , he'll have to pay the shareholders around £4 a share (60% primiem on current SP) under takeover rules. That will please the shareholders , even if they have a higher average price because GLS is a money making machine and we just cost them money to deliver letters. In reality , Royal mail was and is never going to work, trying to compete against other parcel delivery firms as we have to process transport and deliver letters too. It's never been a fair playing field.
Why would DK pay £4 a share now rather than wait a few months and pay nearer £3 a share, it's not like the share price will increase if he waits? Perhaps if he ever did hive off RM it might be a good move for it's employees, as the Government would probably then have to re-nationalise it if it wanted RM to keep making daily deliveries countrywide.
That figure is if he wants to make a takeover bid. He can and probably is, buying all he wants at the current price to get to his 30% target but to make a bid for the company once 30% is reached he has to pay a SP no less than the highest price that he or any of his co investors has paid per share in the preceding 12 months. Which I've read is about the £4 mark.
There are other ways than making a bid for the whole company. One such way is for the board to take corporate action and spin off GLS as a subsidiary company with its own shares. The board have said there will be no cross subsidy from GLS to RM anymore.

The fallout of this is almost beyond repairable. New starters will just see this job as a stop gap

On a personal level, later start times don't affect me much, my office will be less than an hour later, Sunday working, my office isn't listed as a Sunday Hub (most aren't).

To some degree, everybody puts their own self-interests first. But, that point was to illustrate for most delivery offices, the start times aren't changing by much, and most delivery offices won't be working Sundays. But regardless, I can work the occasional Sunday, wouldn't be a problem, and I can start later, again not a huge issue for me.
Later start times affect me greatly, my office is slated to start 3 hours later. Sunday working, hey I work in one of the hubs, that’s now a problem.

Reading your posts you seem to infer that there will be winners and losers and as long as you’re on the right side it doesn’t matter. We’ll it matters to me, and it matters to everyone in my office and it matters to most CWU members

It will be bad when they are delivering mail at 5pm in winter in the rain. If the finish times are unaffected then sure crack on with later starts… Under ST’s regime any overtime will have to be done in the morning before start of shift to clear yesterdays bags and LATs as no one will be wanting to stay out all night.

You need to factor in the arrival times of the final runs from the MCs which are highly likely to get caught in traffic
Plus my journey to work will go from 25-30 minutes to about an hour. Same for the journey home.

I guess it comes down to what you're doing now. Our office times won't change much. Rural FT duty finish times have been between 3 and 4.15pm for over 2 yrs now. Most can't complete in time, so they already are working in the dark in winter. It really isn't as big a problem as you first might think. A good head torch on and it's not much different. Kids are home from school so you get rid of more pkts. People moaning because they won't be able to pick their kids up from school? Don't know how they do now, they finish before we do now. If people are moaning about having to start at 8 or 9am FT or 9-10am PT well, we've got used to changes before. You just have to adapt and be 'glass half full' and look at the ways you can turn it to your advantage. Human beings are brilliant at adapting , you just have look for the plus points for you and not dwell on the negatives. Sunday pkts are a breeze and something I enjoy as a change from the usual grind. Annualized hrs would pxxs some people off that get flyers in summer and do overtime in winter but only for financial reasons because they actually work those hrs now, they just get away with it in summer and get paid for it in winter with overtime. How would they feel if they were the ones running a business? These changes aren't such a big deal if you look at the big picture and open your eyes. Don't know how they'd work annual leave around annualized hrs, not seen anything on that yet.
Sick leave proposals will not be good, personally I think it will drive people who are better after 3 days to just take the whole week. However people have got to realize sick leave is not the law, it's a perk and one which has been abused by many, which is probably one reason it's being tightened up. I think sometimes people get on their high horse about changes before they've actually taken a step back and really looked into how it could advantage them.
Just my opinion.
I'm hoping for VR, but as I say, our office wouldn't see much changes to what it's doing now.

Good point, so you think they haven't modelled for that, and they'd be even later in practise?
'Course they haven't, the planners are computer geeks sat behind their laptops looking at spreadsheets not what happens in the real world....

I don’t know where to start with this , I’m sure that’s posted by Simon or one of his cronies.
