What I wish I knew is, what is the criteria for deciding who gets it and who doesn't. There must be enough people with under 2 years service that they could just let go and not have to pay out a penny. People that keep going sick or bad attendance records? Again, just get rid on a stage 3 and out of the door. Natural wastage? Plenty or people quitting daily. So, who do they want to get rid of that they are willing to pay over and above the statuatory redundancy? Me hopefully.
Anyone with under 2years service isn’t entitled to receive any pay. It’s says on the App
Yeah but hes saying if it was just about reducing the headcount then they could just get rid of a number of those with less than 2 years for nothing without offering VRs so its more about reducing the number with certain contracts than reducing the headcount
And demoralising the reast of s all.

Let's face it the majority of us won't get a VR, as much as we want one!

My estimates 25k will apply for this atleast so that's 3 out of every 4 having to remain in this god awful job..

Pros and cons of working at royal mail in the future:

Pros:
It's a job
Work outside in fresh air
Earliesh finish times

Cons:
Work saturday/Sundays
Walking upto 10 miles a day, significant ware n tear there
Working in rain and cold weather in winter
Xmas is s**t as a postman
Clocking in and out machines, you could owe them time
Having to put up with shitty pdas, taking photos of everything
Loss of sick rites, statutory sick pay
Minimum wage almost reaches our wage..

So with current changes proposed all for worse, I would happily take money and run!

My guess is non drivers and those who receive legacy payments that they want to end will be getting a VR offer. Obviously a lot of those will be senior staff anyway, and of course its all down to the management with no union involvement.

It’s obvious that this preference exercise is going to be totally oversubscribed, however my feeling is that RM will go over and above the 6k that was first required and do the 10k in one hit. Then when they need to get more off the payroll the applicants who missed out this time will be top of the next cull and so on and on!!!

They will then get more people in on the newer contracts saving them more money that way.

With regards to the exercise what does “aggregate service in years” mean? I’m on my second spell with the company 🙈, so IF I was to go for it does that mean my two stints are added together or just my most recent one?

It gives you the number of weeks pay you're entitled to, but it's up to you to do the rest.

I have been told that legacy payments are stopping , to be bought out , paid at intervals over the next 12 to 36 months depending.
Including
TPM , ex-PHG , Time bonus break , Workplace Coach , 400 allowance , driving allowance , PBS/ICS and Collections supplements.

My guess would be those that apply for VR after the November 27th deadline and not getting the extra £6000 would be more likely to get It

Can't find the 'aggregate service in years' on the preference exercise myself. Anyone?

Sorry, I should have made it clearer. It's not on the app it is on the link (on the app) that you click on that gives you a chart.
