I've been a postman for 40 years. This job used to be something that I was proud to be part of, but thanks to the business culture in general I no longer take pride in my work. Simon Thompson doesn't see (or care) that the company is failing terribly because of how he is treating his employees. A happy workforce is a productive workforce. One way or another the company IS going to fail. Either we surrender and RM do what they want, or we fight and RM do what they want. So according to what I've read we should cut a deal. There is no deal.
So what do you want to do people, give in, roll over for the rich fat cats as we lower classes usually do? Or do we fight and take them down with us?

The current climate of racing to the bottom and having us all working for nothing has to end. People like me who remain quietly on the sidelines have to make a stand. The unions are the only ones that can speak for us and are the only ones who can encourage REAL change if we all stick together. How much of this are we going to take? I had a rich customer who just bought themselves a new Ferrari this week told me that "strikes don't work". How easy is it to say that to someone you know nothing about when you have no money worries? How easy is that to say to someone when you're not worried about whether to pay your mortgage or your gas bill this month?

People who say we should "cut a deal" are cowards in my view, I'm ashamed to say I work with some. But I also work with strong proud people who aren't ready to give in. This dispute is only the very thin end of the wedge and it's going to get wider if the rich have their way.

We need to rise up. We need to feel proud again. The working man far outnumbers the super-rich and we need to take back control. So I'm with you, we need a revolution

Nice one. 38 years in the job so whatever happens won’t affect me much. Thompson is trying to starve us back to work and I hate bullies though so will fight to the end.

It’s already long since evaporated, seemingly never to return. Nobody cares anymore. I don’t even know what it would take for people to treat the job like it was pre-pandemic again - I think that ship has already sailed now, no going back.

A decent pay deal and a U-Turn on this thinly disguised levelling-down agenda would be a start though.

Well from my experience a bully will always come back until you learn to stand on your own two feet.
In this case a handful of strike dates aren't going to stop them, they'll soon start talking sense when nobody does the work full stop.
I don't like losing money but you have to make sacrifices to get what you want no point in whinging about it lol
