Re: Preference excercise
It’s not just about EVR is it. The preference exercise is used to manage reduction in headcount and possible over staffing. That’s why they ask if you are willing to move location or change your contracted hours. I would guess that’s why they ask if you have a disability covered under the equalities act. If you do and they accommodate that at your current office it may be an issue if you want to change location to accommodate it at a new office.

Re: Preference excercise
I (stupidly) expressed an interest in VR through the app, before calculating what my pay-off would be (it isn't much). I retracted my interest, but will this be detrimental to me in any way in the near future?

Re: Preference excercise
Who knows - if you guys go piling in on this and a huge number of staff want this then RM could go to the CWU - the staff are happy with this....
We'll pay off 30% of the staff that are the cheapest to pay off and then they'll bring in cheap labour.

What's the alternative to "Seniority" then "Face Fits Basis" or " How Much Brown Nosing Can I Do" as alternatives you can look at Seniority and number 45 Seniority is ahead of number 46 Seniority everyone can look and see where they are respectively

To all employees do not engage with the people app its Simon's tool to break the union, to all employees do not talk to any managers about anything until the dispute is over, just a yes ,no and a nod of the head. NO COMPLIANCE on any change.

Re: Preference excercise
How can it be on seniority? It will be on numbers needed by area, by budget, by whose jobs can be subsumed into others . If it's by seniority the £ involved will be enormous. Well above what RM will be prepared to pay.denhamhoop wrote: ↑18 Nov 2022, 19:50What's the alternative to "Seniority" then "Face Fits Basis" or " How Much Brown Nosing Can I Do" as alternatives you can look at Seniority and number 45 Seniority is ahead of number 46 Seniority everyone can look and see where they are respectively

Re: Preference excercise
I hope you realise that the whole thing is an exercise from ST to see how many takers there will be and as many said before, he will use those numbers to show the CWU, and all of us, there is no need to increase the offer. I don't believe there is any clear and defineable plan in place of how it will work, so until there is, it seems redundant to be bickering amongst ourselves about seniority or not. Thought I read somewhere it won't actually happen til Feb 23 so there is still plenty time for ST to run true to form and walk back the figure. That's why in my opinion, the £6K kicker is time sensitive, because he just wants the numbers of takers asap to take into any further talks. The man is ruthless! Quite transparent, but ruthless nonetheless.

Re: Preference excercise
You are overlooking that some posties are rubbing their hands at the thought of a £20K+ pay out, the fact they could potentially get £30K+ is irrelevant if they they can potentially get the £20K+ now. I'm a bit surprised how many posties are considering VR when it seems we're already understaffed anyway, I assumed it would only be the ones nearing retirement or already struggling with the job who would be interested.guardianangel wrote: ↑18 Nov 2022, 20:05To all employees do not engage with the people app its Simon's tool to break the union, to all employees do not talk to any managers about anything until the dispute is over, just a yes ,no and a nod of the head. On that score if people who do want VR sit and wait for a better offer then might never get one and have to sit and watch other staff leave with a decent pay off.

Re: Preference excercise
Think you'll have to agree to go, then to get you're money tax free, you have to work 12 week notice out, which will take you till end of February.Slim2none wrote: ↑18 Nov 2022, 20:14I hope you realise that the whole thing is an exercise from ST to see how many takers there will be and as many said before, he will use those numbers to show the CWU, and all of us, there is no need to increase the offer. Agree all this conjecture is a bit of a waste of time. I put in my request and will now have to wait, hopefully not too long, to see if have been successful or not.
If they, ok ,when they get enough volunteers to go on their terms what does it matter if the terms aren't as good as before? People are adults and if they are happy with what they have been offered then let them take it. It'll leave more money in the kitty for those who are left, hopefully.
