Why should they when there's already people lining up to accept their meagre terms .fallenworld2022 wrote: ↑17 Nov 2022, 19:58Listen, the money on offer for VRs is worth in real terms about 6 months worth in this climate, if royal mail seriously want rid of us all and their own workers in , they will have to pay us a lot better than 9 months and 6k thats next to nothing. The cwu have lost ,well beat, what exactly have they done for us other than lose us money and more money to come, the best the cwu can do now is get us better redundancy terms before u make ur decision to go or stay, least they can do for putting us through this misery.

Re: if they want rid of us they will have to pay us better than that
I am a Parcel force 7.5 Tonne driver
We are NOT being offered VR.
I contacted people app help desk. They confirmed the VR exercise is only for Royal Mail Staff.
Anyone know why that is?
My manager said that Parcelforce got shafted 15 years ago, and now it is Royal Mail turn??
I think he meant later starts ,( had my contract changed last year, to accommodate Screwfix AM Deliveries.)
He says Royal Mail are given 4 hr slots for 1 collection, s**t like that.
I don't believe him.
I think they have other plans for us.
Any ideas??
Thanks, good luck.

Later start times
no pay rise
more owner drivers
and merging royal mail work into parcelforce because we are under capacity .

It really pisses me off how the union never mention to the media the high amounts of agency, and that they are trying to just replace us. How can they need 10'000 redundancies whilst currently employing owner driver's? Everyone should know this, and barely mentioned when they get media time. Royal mail talk as if redundancies can't be avoided whilst employing more people. All the public and media should know about this, yet they all still think it's about pay.

Good points made by Dave, media should present the facts, not glibbly repeat RM comments without checking the detail.

Funny how the RCN have said they will pay their nurses £50 a day on strike days!

Why not part timers then ? As it is full time equivalents , they could lose more staff that way. 6000 FT or 10000+ PTnorris9 wrote: ↑18 Nov 2022, 10:02people are saying - 'I'll take it'.... are they even going to give it to you...
Sounds like they are going to go for the cheapest to pay off. That would be someone like me with only a few years service. That would be £7,500...
Is it worth it when I am still young. Is it worth it when I don't have another job lined up. The pension is also good here at Royal Mail.
I think it's too little for me personally to take. I believe the Union were saying last night we may get an 8.5% pay rise, they did not mention if this would be backdated. If it's backdated then thats about £1000. This is something to consider, but right now it's up in the air.
I don't know why they don't just let people leave naturally. Thousands of people surely leave this job annually.

Re: if they want rid of us they will have to pay us better than that
Has nobody else done the maths around this extra £6000 per person, to sweeten the ‘39 weeks maximum’ VR offer?
Remember, until 3 days ago, the company were saying there’s no more money to increase the pay offer, and that their new VR terms are all that the company can afford.
Work it out.
If they find 10,000 takers for VR, and they pay them this additional £6k each, that’s £60 million they are suddenly, out of thin air, able to find!!
They can afford more to boost the pay offer.
They’re choosing to reward people intent on leaving the business instead of prioritising those that are staying !!!

Are you asking if Part Timers are included in this redundancy offer? - surely they are... they'd be cheaper to get rid of.tractorboy2 wrote: ↑19 Nov 2022, 08:23Why not part timers then ? short term pain for long term gain is companies stratergy
people on long term contracts are the ones they want to get out of the door even if it costs them new younger more flexible workforce is what they want with less union confrontation
