I'm a manpower agency driver started 3 weeks ago, with shifts until Christmas.
I'm fully aware no one could give a s**t about my opinion, but I'll give it anyway.
I fully support the strikes, now seeing it from the inside, s**t pay, s**t conditions, on the whole pretty disorganised.
As we've been asked to work strike days, and now there are (10?) strike days, that's about 30% of the shifts I've been given.
If I strike in solidarity, I have no money for December & January, so it's pointless even being there from tomorrow.
If I work the strike days there will be 10 days of animosity, and a complete nightmare trying to clear the backlog for no extra money.
As RM have no loyalty to me , no guarantee of long term prospects, no sick pay, no overtime, it's just not worth the aggravation.
Conclusion, I'm looking for another job as of tomorrow.

Shame, cos I was starting to enjoy it, and got the impression I'm doing a good job and fitting in well with everyone.

The job is garbage now but couldn't you apply for a job with rm through a regular job advert or is the only way to get in through the agency?
From what I've seen virtually all RM jobs are now through Manpower or Pertemps.
The reason why Sunday has been chosen is that at Christmas the network is working 7 days per week, mail centres operate 7 days ,there are extra relief collections and of course you have weekend workers.
Normally the biggest delivery dates at Christmas is immediately after the weekend.

But we could have 7th or 8th or 10th just one of them not a lot else we could do.
I guarantee, people will cross the line, Part timers will not lose 4 days pay in one week. A lot of full timers won't.
Understand your point but what else was the CWU supposed to do after RM's antics today ... Think this is the unions last throw of the dice!
No idea, whenever we are in dispute people shout strike at christmas, we need to strike in december blah blah, well here we are and he hasn't budged an inch and is ploughing on, this man is a different beast. I only know what I hear people say to me, they are worried, they have bills to pay, I will strike one day a week until hell freezes over, I can afford it and quite like having an extra day off a week, but there are many people much younger that need the overtime to just survive, to lose that and then to be hit with all these days, many will fold and I don't blame them, in their situation I would fold. I'm looking to get out anyway so I have signed up for the VR, I won't get it but if offered it I am looking at about 27k. Yes please and off I go skipping into the sunset.
Even on the reduced terms of a maximum of 39 weeks’ pay? Not that much, surely?
Heard a rumour that striking individuals will not be considered for VR. Any truth in it? Anyone else heard anything? This was from a driver.
Good grief, a few seconds brain activity surely tells you that is patently ridiculous. How many of the 115,000 employees DIDN’T take part in the strikes and had Sausage Chips And Beans? Not 10,000 or so. Therefore, RM couldn’t get the numbers they want if they were to withhold VR offers from striking members!!
It’s not enough anyway, needed to be way more days than 6/7 in the whole of December.
Because Sunday pkts is their main thing. Although I don't see how they make money on it. For example 125miles driven to deliver 13 pkts the other Sunday. They'll just up the agency on that Sunday I guess.
Right. Why not another weekday though? Surely has much more effect. Sunday delivery is pointless to strike on, as the workload will be tiny and whatever is there will be easily covered by agency or strikebreakers.
Sunday is useless another bad decision by the union , Think again .

Works out at £538 wk. Easy to work out, maybe it's London weighting? Don't know. Some supplements are pensionable too, according to the guide on the app.
