I think you're getting the wrong end of the stick. We are not desperate as you say. We are probably happy with anything as we were about to leave anyway. The desperate ones are the ones who can't leave and are desperately holding out for some super deal. This will now not happen . The writing is on the wall. This is realism not being negative.

It's just been announced by Andy Fury on the live update that there's 11200 agency staff employed in the whole of RM....that's their redundancy problem solved right there. But they've said f**k all about that though...begars belief

But we cost more than agency when you factor in sick and annual leave pay. Plus they're a zero hrs workforce.

The reason for the redundancies though is cited as reduced workload - not that they cant afford us

14 years service ur only looking at 15k then, that wont last u a year, time u pay a heavy car bill, mot, insurance, electricity, all the other bills, reality will kick in, uve been shafted.

Not if you can walk straight into another job. Let’s be honest 1000’s have been leaving anyway. 10’s of thousands more (or so they say) are also looking to leave. Might as well get something out of it if that was your plan. The way things are shaping up Thompson’s going to bankrupt the company and then you will know what shafted really looks like.

2000 managers apparently made redundant just a few months back. We really should be offered the same term's as they were given. Why should we be offered a reduced package?

If you watched the CWU Live it was actually more positive than I thought it was going to be. They seem to be gradually coming to an agreement. Maybe we will have an agreement and an offer to vote on within weeks that may actually be reasonable.

But maybe I am being too positive. We have been trolled too often.


I wonder how many staff they are short of currently.... I don't know why they don't just lose staff naturally over time instead of wasting money paying them off. I would not be surprised if the company is at least 7,000 staff short of what they actually need. I think in the CWU Live they said they are currently employing 11,000 agency staff....but don't quote me on that - I am not sure on the exact number....

If they don't use agency then do they really need to get rid of any of us?

They want to get rid of existing employees and replace us with people on lesser pay terms and conditions.

The work is still there though may be diminishing by the strike action.

Not long ago Managers were offered 2 yrs wages Redundancy package and remember they are on alot more money than postie's basic wage.

RM seem to be constantly biting at the Unions ankles like a Jack Russell when they should be trying find resolve.No Union and Workforce is never going to accept what's on offer at the moment , disrespecting the workforce with proposed agenda only demoralises and loses the Goodwill.

What if the sticking point at the talks is the terms of VR?
If everything else was agreed, Thommo could now say to the union, don't worry about VR terms, we've got 10000 people leaving next year now and there won't be any more redundancies because we'll manage staff reductions with natural wastage from now on.
Could a deal now be done in the next few days?

There are are more jobs available than there are unemployed a fact the left wing media are hiding from us .
100.000 jobs in the care industry alone that lazy benefit scroungers will not take .

Sounds like they are going to go for the cheapest to pay off. That would be someone like me with only a few years service. That would be £7,500...

Is it worth it when I am still young. Is it worth it when I don't have another job lined up. The pension is also good here at Royal Mail.

I think it's too little for me personally to take. I believe the Union were saying last night we may get an 8.5% pay rise, they did not mention if this would be backdated. If it's backdated then thats about £1000. This is something to consider, but right now it's up in the air.


I don't know why they don't just let people leave naturally. Thousands of people surely leave this job annually.
