If it's not done on seniority then I guess it will be done by.....

1. Depots that are full.
2. Constantly sick people or younger/newer people who would be cheaper to pay off.

I think I'd only get £7,500 if I took it... so surely they'd rather pay me off than pay someone who is closer to retirement £25,000+

Problem for me is....our depot is about 25% short staffed as it is.

For me 15k would be enough to jack the job in. Would love to go learn a trade and do a job that is rewarding and pay what you deserve.

my estimate is there'll be a good 20-30,000 who will have registered interest in this. Now what can he do with this information, that's the next question.
To see how many would accept the crappy VR terms

No point ever offering better terms closer to what it was before if thousands would take whats currently on the table

Everybody putting their names forward for this are just shooting themselves in the foot

It's not shooting yourself in foot when many want OUT and would be close to walking for free. Any kind of redundancy when your in that frame of mind is a no brainer isn't it.

You have missed my point

The union are trying to get them to increase the terms of VR. It was 2 years pay max before. Now its 9 months max.

Thousands of people telling RM they would accept the current lesser terms undermines the argument for better terms which ultimately does those who want out, like yourself, out of money

Hence shooting yourself in the foot

I’ve applied and it would suit me fine too but I’m 66 and mates in my office told me you have to be under 64 so I don’t hold out much hope.
There's a separate calculator for those above 64.5 years old, just select that instead. Assuming you're on the app?

Like the CWU has ANY bargaining power though.

Well they certainly wont when thousands are letting RM know they would be happy to accept the lesser terms on offer

Sometimes in these situations it's possible to get a quote. That is to say, finding out exactly what you'd get, then making a decision based on that.
Any info on this?
you can check on the app without proceeding
How do you do this on the app??

Go to the preference exercise bit and then just go through the steps without submitting - it will ask you your age and length of service and tell you how many weeks pay you would get

No doubt RM will be collecting data of who has accessed the app but surely even they must realise people will be curious to see what they could get even if they have no intention to progress it further.

Its those who are submitting the answers that give them the real indication - like you say, checking tells them nothing
