Somebody on Workplace has posted a further letter sent today by the CWU, which suggests RM has informed them they are giving them 30 days notice of the commencement of redundancies!

Why should we accept 9 months redundancy when the managers had 2 years

I think a lot will go in the next strike days, most have zero confidence in top union officials. Once December is done so are we. Management willing to lose the the battle of Xmas to win the war. Everything will be bought in by executive action for the future of the company, as they see it. If everyone is totally honest the next few strikes up to Xmas is throwing your money away.
Hate writing this as most of you hate reading it but it’s true, we have lost.
As much as Royal Mail need a change at the top so do we.
Simple ballot for strike on imposed changes and an all out walk out,its not hard.

Think we are f'@cked - it would have nice if the CWU would have made a live statement on this rather than just putting out a PDF and a video?

I don’t think anything will matter now, they are clearly ready to take a massive hit until Christmas, then start a major restructure early next year. Thompson hasn’t moved at all,and won’t now.Prove me wrong union please!

I've only been here for a year, it would be far cheaper for RM to finish me than pay out redundancy money. Not sure if they can do this but it wouldn't surprise me.

Thomson hasn’t moved because we have not tested them yet
One day strikes don’t matter saves them money

You wouldn't qualify for any redundancy with less than 2 years service.

Well two 2 day strikes have been announced at what will be a very busy period and it’s made no difference whatsoever. Just can’t see anything working now, but I’ll stand by the union and do what’s required.

You have to be employed for more than two years to receive redundancy pay. They can also dismiss you within two years and the dismissal automatically fair

This could have worked early on in the dispute, if the public, media and government were concerned with there being no postal service.

The company I think would be indifferent though, the more money they lose, the more it justifies the changes they want.

Pulling a massive strike now though is just going to anger the public with Christmas on the horizon, and let's be honest most of the members have clearly never shown the willingness to go out for a week or longer, people are moaning at the odd couple of days as it is.

Which redundancy package would it be..... compulsory or statutory. Some people been talking about 9 months pay, others talking about statutory...which is where you get bugger all unless you have been working for 20 years+
