Where’s the December strike dates?
They PEC have agreed them, but haven't announced them. By the looks of things. :chuckle

An example of another failed privatisation! Royal mail set up and expanded GLS to help cross subsidise the uso. Now the locusts have eaten everything royal mail has to offer and are looking for their next easy meal.

The government has failed us the workers, it's failed the royal mail, its failed the uso and it's failed every single member of the public. It sold off OUR royal mail to locust assent strippers intent on ripping royalmail to pieces to line their pockets.

The government needs to buy royalmail back now, and thanks to Simon Thompson who couldnt run a bath. It's going cheap! They then need to remove the failed experiment that is DSA and then run royalmail for the good of the people and businesses of the UK putting the service at the heart of the business.
It's not for the good of the people though is it? It's for the good of us lot, whose jobs will all be secure and people wanting the days back of being finished at 10 - 11 o'clock everyday. The government are not gonna buy us back, certainly not this one, and the incoming (probably) Labour government haven't given any indication that they'd do the same. We need to get over this pipe dream.
Of course it's for the good of the people! They want royal mail to deliver and to deliver well. They want royalmail to deliver on its obligations to the uso. The only way a royal mail can do that is a royal mail that is in public hands and running it to provide a service to the nation. Let's make no mistake though, do I believe the current government or even a labour government will come riding to our rescue? No I don't!

10 days of talks and nothings changed what a joke
Why are people surprised? Thompson said nothing would be changing after the joint statement. He said it was the best deal that could be done.
Exactly. And Dave Ward was a clown for giving false hope the company might negotiate. Thompson put it in writing there will be no improved offer. Tomorrow is going to bring a whole lot of gloom I fear.
I feel it should be pointed out the Thompson’s new deal was worse than the original one given it hardly moved the goal posts from the previous one on pay, tacked on a risible 1.5% for all of next year and had even more change and job loses on top of that.

Ultimately the end game here is whether Thompson can survive the next few weeks.

He may not be willing to move from the offers he’s put on the table, but if he’s ousted, whoever comes in will need to prioritise getting this situation resolved.

I suspect they’ll announce them tomorrow whilst ST’s addressing the shareholders.

“They want Royal Mail to deliver” where is this coming from? the customer doesn’t care knowing your customers is a thing of the past. Who do u think they remember, the guy bringing shiny Amazon parcels or the guy in the battered van with mail sort and D2Ds

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again , the union haven’t got a clue what we want as members because they never ask.

A shambles from the top of the union and the top of Royal Mail.

Well as updates go this has to be one, that if we are honest isnt a surprise. And its the hope that kills us. Hope that a pay deal would be sorted, hope that ts & cs wouldn't leave us with a noose round our necks. But sadly the people at the top think otherwise. Rumours were flying round last night about a pay deal being reached. Thats all they were...rumours. Fingers have started been pointed at the union. I think thats unfair. Yes over the years they have got things wrong, but with this this is something ive never seen from the CEO.

From day 1 Thompson has spouted the same lines...losing 1m a day etc, and from the moment we were privatised this was always a possibility. Cash is king, and the kings want their cash. For a workforce to be treated how this workforce has been treated not just recently but for years is shameful. Yet this workforce still do their job day in day out its remarkable . We all could come up with ideas how this company should be run, but if the sh#thouse at the top has a agenda,we are wasting our time. Our voice is the Union. Im in the union for over 30 years dont like how somethings are with them. But on this issue,we need to trust them 100%.

The old saying takes 2 to tango couldn't be more relevant as it is now. But over these last 10 days as is obvious, 1 person doesn't want to dance. :arrrghhh

Reads like the CWU have finally been shown the balance sheet, and it ain't good.
That's what I thought.

But the bottom line is the strikes are still on unless there's a miracle breakthrough this week.
says it all when they are not willing to put things in writing

No you won't , i'm first lol. Why can't the cwu accept 10000 job losses? Pleeeeease accept it and let some of your members go with a bit of a handshake although not a golden one , maybe bronze.

Fair enough if you're aware of the deal. However I do think a lot of our colleagues are still looking at the VR Payouts under our OLD T&Cs, which have been torn up and used as toilet paper by ST & Co. :no no

I'm sure any NEW VR payments will be the Legal Minimum that RM can get away with. :no no I take your point that some people would have left anyway and will probably hang around hoping for any pay out that's going. :cuppa

Look people, stop trying to over think whats going on and stressing yourselves out its all part of Simple slymans plan, having been around a year or two longer than most i can see theres something going on behind the scenes, perhaps tomorrows great announcement to the market will give us some insight into what is going on but perhaps not, the main thing to remember is back your union because if you dont it really will be the end. I fancy no matter what we do the CEOs agenda is never going to match ours and no matter what we agree to he will just push the boundaries back to keep us in dispute until he gets what he and the board are really after and usually that involves a lot of cash....... they probably just see us and royal mail as collateral damage and will go on their merry way. If i am wrong i will be pleasantly surprised. The thing is in this situation until it plays out all you are doing is guessing and stressing.

But they must have been discussing something for those 10 days, fingers crossed, today's announcement is all part of the game and we actually get somewhere with the talks early next week, if we don't I fear the union will never broker a deal.

Of course there has been discussions. But on the main areas to me looks like RM isn't moving. The Unions role is to protect its members full stop. Its also its role to broker a deal. Something it has done with and without success for years. On this occasion though the Union wont broker a deal if it undermines and threatens its membership.
