It's also about the law. We have a legal obligation to assess asylum claims. And those asylum seekers are here legally while we do.
Basic stuff, this, that racists either refuse to understand, or are too thick to understand.

Yes and I’d have no problem paying the appropriate NI when it comes to drawing it.yellowbelly wrote: ↑15 Nov 2022, 16:12Private pensions are not exclusive to rich bankers. A lot of low income workers have private workplace pensions

to cut that?
Guess what we've got personal pensions too!
Because people only seem to have an issue when it is asylum seekers of a certain skin colour. I’m not segregating anyone. They are all welcome as far as I am concerned.

Of course its a bl**dy mess
The problem is that the current level of immigration into the UK is much too high. In the year to June 2022, there were 1.1 million visas granted to foreign nationals to come and live in the UK – by far the highest on record (and about equivalent to the population of Britain's second largest city Birmingham).
I've seen it first hand on my round as half of the people are immigrants and they have build new estates for them to live. Some of them are working but some of them are living in free council houses and most of them are getting welfare benefits of some kind. That is why even though the government still spends billions into the NHS you still can't get to see a doctor to save your life.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

It's international law.
We break international law, we become a rogue state.
I don't want that for the UK, I'm too much of a patriot. Racists who hate Britain might be cool with it, but not me.

Re: Inflation and GDP is lower than before pandemic
This is all Daily Mail nonsense. They aren’t getting free houses. They aren’t all sitting on their arses getting benefits. The reason you can’t see a doctor is they are all retiring, and because we have made this country increasingly hostile to foreign workers, trained professionals from abroad do not want to come here. That and the ridiculous demands that managers put on both GPs and doctors elsewhere.postslippete wrote: ↑15 Nov 2022, 17:41

Then you have the fact that we have made university education too expensive and inconvenient for our own children. Nobody wants to train to become a doctor and be saddled with £10,000s of debt afterwards and enter a profession where they face the same circumstances outlined above.
But don’t let facts get in the way, just blame the immigrants.

I've given you the official numbers. And there are many more immigrants than before living in council houses on benefits in the area that I deliver to. FFS I do know!!LouBarlow wrote: ↑15 Nov 2022, 19:32This is all Daily Mail nonsense. They aren’t getting free houses. They aren’t all sitting on their arses getting benefits. Here's another FACT. There were nearly 700,000 new GP registrations by migrants in 2019/20. So obviously that puts more strain on the health service. Imho doctors are leaving the profession/retiring because they are overworked. Why are they overworked do you think?? Just observe the FACT that I've posted above.
But I'm not against immigration.
Its uncontrolled mass immigration that is the issue. Its only my opinion but I feel that it displaces British workers, forces people into benefits and suppresses wages for the low paid.

I thought the argument for Brexit was that the free movement of labour, meant that immigration was uncontrolled and that we should "take our borders back". But you've said it yourself.postslippete wrote: ↑15 Nov 2022, 20:26Its uncontrolled mass immigration that is the issue. Those visas were granted, by the Home Office. That's literally controlled immigration. It's worth mentioning too, that almost 500k of those visas were study visas. The problem is that the current level of immigration into the UK is much too high. Oh yeah, and the kicker is, our economy is completely dependent on "foreign workers", so the next Tory plan for economic growth, will be to let even more people in.

The free movement of labour is subordinate to the free movement of capital.Murdoch wrote: ↑16 Nov 2022, 00:51I thought the argument for Brexit was that the free movement of labour, meant that immigration was uncontrolled and that we should "take our borders back". The free movement of Capital means it becomes impossible to nail Capital down in your community hence why the quintessential English / British Range Rover f****d off to where labour is more compliant.
Immigration is a 2 way story and much of the movement in the EU came on the back of the bailouts facilitated within the EU after the financial crash.
These bailouts stripped the likes of Ireland , Southern Europe and the Baltics of their assets and forced half their young to leave their own country and transferred state assets from democratic to private control making it nearly impossible for any single elected government to reverse.
Hollande a "socialist " French president deployed the army on the streets of France to force through labour reforms due to having to meet German productivity targets because they share the same currency.
Not that your average German is feeling well off as Merkel like her counterparts in the UK has suppressed wages during her tenure and in general with one or two exceptions wages have fallen against GDP for the last 40 years in the West.

I’m amazed that you have time to complete your delivery, seeing as you have obviously been going door to door in your area taking a census on the people living there, their asylum status, and where they originate from. Kindly provide a source for your claim that asylum seekers have ‘houses built for them’ that they then have free access to, or quit with this nonsense.postslippete wrote: ↑15 Nov 2022, 20:26I've given you the official numbers. Though if it is that easy to get a free house, what you need to do is book a cheap flight to France, burn your passport, sail back in a dinghy and voila, free houses for everyone.

You quit with this nonsense pretending that an over influx of people into the country isn't going to have consequences on the economy.

I doubt it. They have already tried flying some of them off to Rwanda but got hit with all sorts of legal implications. Illegal immigration is a growing problem with no real easy solutions.

I didn't say anything about asylum seekers having houses built for them, I said that we are building brand new housing estates and many of them living there just happen to be immigrants. And I don't need to take a census on the people living there either - I've delivered their passports, I know where they come from! lol There are many of them from Eastern Europe, countries like Romania and Poland, Lithuania, Estonia etc. There's a couple who have taken in a few Ukrainians. They were concerned that their £350 a month that they were receiving from the government every month was going to end next year and they didn't know how they were going to accommodate them. She says they are still actively looking for work. Obviously, I've seen many of them grow up and have children themselves so yes I know that many of them rely on child welfare. There are many of them that are living on benefit as well just like the British. Some of them are working but many of them are not and I do nt speak to many of them.
I won't be burning my British passport just yet but I do think we are very much a soft touch for the rest of the world

I'm not going to dissect every point you made. Other than to say, I agree that it's globalism, that's driven large scale immigration.Bob Cooney wrote: ↑16 Nov 2022, 02:59The free movement of labour is subordinate to the free movement of capital.

I just find it amusing that people thought that Brexit would mean less immigration. It's disconcerting that people aim that anger at the immigrants, who are just trying to make a life for themselves like the rest of us, and not the policy makers.
It's a paradox that most people don't seem to get, the right-wing parties that may seem on the face of it "socially conservative", tend to be the ones most "liberal" when it comes to the free movement of capital, and thus labour. The economics and the conservative principles don't align.
