If Royal Mail do anounce it has lost a Billion pounds with thursdays results,
He says JP Morgan are predicting the possibility of a billion pound losses over the year.
Anything is possible of course but you can always find someone to support your narrative.

If a billion pound losses were going to be announced why has the share price risen about 70p over the last week?

It’s nothing to do with anything apart from guesswork.

The place for CSS machines is inside DO’s not MC’s, you can all run your sequencing on site with an early shift.
No need to have it all sequenced later and later into the night at MC’s and then driven out to you.
Delivery offices are the place for CSS machines.
MCs are the place to have CSS machines located. Batches can be moved around the CSS machines and if staff and machine capacity are available between IMPS/iLSMs and CSS machines.

There's only 1 engineer on duty per shift, if he's off at an MPU for an hour or more and we get a breakdown, that machine will then be down for a long time, meaning that some work would have to go to manual.

Engineers are also responsible for more machinery now, PSMs (in MCs that have them) and the powered conveyors.

RM after after having a SINGLE wave, which won't be started until after plan 1 has finished being run

Woody you keep spreading your poison.

In any dispute it is a case of brinkmanship and clearly Royal Mail would like us to stand down the strikes instead we have served notice on Thursday and Black Friday in line with the 14 days legislative law.

In return Royal Mail are saying we not halting their plans except in offering redundancies.

Do you really think walking away from the talks will mean Royal Mail pull back from the above ? The only time they are going to change their plans is with an agreement.

Oh and they need an agreement. The pressure mounts ahead of Thursday results and JP Morgan is predicting Royal Mail will announce loss of almost a billion pounds.

So no the union are dealing with the real fundamental issues which come with that as well as all the other issues within the dispute. I won’t be posting again on this thread. I informed this site as I had received several emails about where Royal Mail were on changes to sorting.
Do the cwu not need an agreement aswell martin hopefully not a legally binding one with a no strike deal??

Its fascinating isnt it- either he wrongly thinks any of us have a clue what he’s on about, or he does it deliberately to look somehow intelligent or in the know or who knows. Baffling.

CSS = Compact Sequence Sorter (The small walk sequencing machines, found in MPUs and MCs)
iLSMs & IMPs intelligent Letter Sorting Machine (iLSM), Integrated Mail Processing (IMP) The big letter sorting machines
MPU - Mail processing Unit - DOs with CSS machines (don't think there's many left)
PSM - Packet sorting machine

Nothing special about the abbreviations, used throughout RM

What don't you understand?
There is a glossary of abbreviations on the board.

All of this is happening in my office as we speak. Frameless sorting being trialled and have been told all frames to be gone by february. From monday parcels will arrive walk sorted to our frames. No early starts for part timers and full walk absence overtime to be reduced to 5 hours. Full timers coming in on day off only asked to start at 8 am. Its very real.

You said on 18th October it was coming in the following week and you would be updating us how its going and that was weeks ago. Youve posted nothing about it since then untit today and STILL havent told us how its going - all youve told us is what hours are being cut and doomsday scenario of all frames gone by Feb.

So how is it actually working?

I cant help feeling theres games being played here

Im really struggling to understand how frameless sorting/bench merging is actually done. So you dont have a frame? Where do you do it? On the floor?

You must get at least 30 smaller packets full of bits of crap per walk, how do they all fit in and how do they arrive at your floorspace??
Last week on one day we had 120 trays of mail to sort on IPS. (Between 30 or so walks)
Unless that's all going to magically get put through a sorting machine it's a non starter.

A legally binding agreement that management can just serve notice on .

how the heck does a 'frameless office' work?

Have they now got the technology/robots to sort our rounds into correctly ordered bundles?

The technology can probably be made to do that, broadly, except for packets.

However it would rely on everyone's walk sequence being 100% correct in Route Manager, and of course it'd require you to do the walk in the same order every day (which I know some people do, but for varying reasons, some people sometimes do not). Even were the sequence in Route Manager correct, unless the base data (access links, principally), reflects reality, errors will creep in and multiply over time.

The actual idea - taken purely as an intellectual thing - is quite sensible. However it founders on the rocks of reality.

When the technology goes wrong - as it certainly will in ways both small and annoying and large and catastrophic - you'll be sunk. Also, for folk who don't know the walks very well, it'll be hugely slow.

It's the stupidest idea RM have yet conceived because it does not take into account RM's 'difficult' relationship with technology. As just one example the RM parcel tracking network's been down for days now. Days. If it happened for more than a few hours at Amazon, very senior staff would be getting their marching orders.
