Coming in early

We still have some early starters who prep as fast as possible to get out of the door, but since weve started scanning in and out they cant go home early so really, what's the point, I dont get it

It’s an illness

I don't know whether you say this in jest or not. Unfortunately it may well be an illness in some people, I know some of you may think this daft, bullshit or whatever but one thing I've become more and more aware of as I get older is how inflicted with mental health issues some people are. When you are younger and more naive you don't see or understand things and assume that everyone is the same as you. Therefore if you're not affected by something or not doing something (in this case coming in to work early) then why should someone else be etc etc. Someone I'm friends with at work suffers with mental health issues (high functioning so not visible to others) and yes a symptom of this is the reason they do come in early to work. The bullying they suffer for this by way of direct confrontation or snide comments is I can assure you not helping them in the least. All of this for what - so some of you can mock others for behaving in a small way differently to yourselves that you have somehow contrived to make up that it affects you.

If at least one of you stops and thinks for a minute that you're nastiness and bullying can be torture to people then having spent my time posting this will have been time well spent. Think on please people, these are your work colleagues!!!

I have a similar issue with a round that is ridiculously too big, to be fair to her the duty holder starts on time and usually finishes on time but preps at a silly level, missorts a plenty just to get out early, cuts corners outdoors just so she can then complete on time.

For most people here average indoor work (from start time to driving the van out of the yard) is 2 hours, and then 4:30 outdoors. For this particular round it’s 1 hour or just over indoors and then 5:30 outdoors.

And therein lies the problem - I prep fast but I hate having missorts, she’s prepped it for me before and I can be bringing 20+ letters back. I also don’t cut corners outdoors so I’m constantly bringing a third of the round back, and then it’s the usual ‘how come Mrs Bloggs can complete and you can’t.’

We are the fourth emergency service. We deliver vital hospital appointments for children with cancer.
We are the glue that binds society. Had we not continued delivering during the pandemic anarchy may have ensued.

Given the importance of our role in our communities who wouldn't go the extra mile?

We have people still coming in hours early but not scanning to sign in until their start time. I feel like we are not just in a battle with RM but with some of our colleagues too.

When other people cover the deliveries and tell the DOM they can't complete the delivery. The DOM says well the regular guy does so I don't see why you can't.

That comment right there by the boss is bullying and harassment ,put in a complaint straight away ,its time to make a stand and other workers in earshot back you up and tell the manager to stop bullying your colleague,union reps now need to step up and question manager's behaviour and stop laughing and chatting to them.

How's it bullying to ask the question? Somebody covers mine that comes in early, skips breaks and still managers to leave stuff everyday where as I do none of those things and still comfortably clear. The reason cover guy doesn't complete, is because he's a lazy s**t and should be called out as so.

They come in early for free as they think it’s their right to be going home at 1pm rather than 14.30 like the rest of the office. Nothing more,nothing less….

I just don’t understand it, I have left d2ds as I have no time as walk constantly failing and can’t put leaflets in the frame yet other people are coming in

With the way management treats me sometimes....I am not interested in giving them even 1 minute of free work.

This isn’t bullying it’s just stating a fact, any other job you start at your start time, these idiots coming in early are creating a problem and they know it, I have 2 guys covering are walks who come in 1 hours early than we do and still don’t take any breaks and finish 2 hours before we do! Our dim is always praising them up because it didn’t cost any overtime yet they charge around And leaves parcels exposed and often make mistakes, if they slowed down and came in on their time and did the job properly we wouldn’t have these issues, which they are causing

It is an illness, we have a few in my office that come in early every day , I openly take the piss out of them in front of everyone and they just carry on regardless, they think that’s normal.
