GLS isn't going to be used to subsidise us any longer.

GLS is not a financially separate entity no matter how Royal Mail spin it, it was purchased by Royal Mail from the profits made by Royal Mail, you can't buy shares in just GLS or just in Royal Mail only IDS which includes both.
You watch the group still report a profit next week and still pay dividends and bonuses.

Of course they will but that doesn't change RM making massive losses. I can't see a massive no strings deal on the back of GLS profits and RM losses.

The reason for the losses are expenditure on new electric vans and charging stations they are front loading the costs in this financial year.

Quarter 1 figures didn't show that.

The figures are only as good as the people who input them and Q1 is a quite time of the year if we based all our figures on one quarter we would have been in recession by the end of August!

Just hope he comes back with a no strings inflation pay rise and no watered down terms and conditions,just got this funny feeling after watching the video we are being prepared for a sell out,he needs to come back with something worth voting for and not to stop striking while we vote or that could take us to January. I agree with you , i don't see us getting a no strings pay deal although we all voted for just a pay deal with no strings . But i'm not confident with a suitable offer for the membership.

The only no strings deal to be seen will be the imposed 2%. A NS deal now is history.

Apple and oranges mate, there is so much competition in the parcel buisness, and you cannot deny mail is down, i have been here 15 years and it is well down, but parcels are massively up, esp the last 2 years or so, best we can hope for is a later start and voluntary Sundays , with new starters on Sundays. We might get 10% over 2 years with all the terms included.

I am expecting the Union to agree to a lot of change....

- I just hope it isn't later starts and later finishes.

- I don't mind some Sunday working as long as I get the Saturday off.

- And I pray we don't end up with a situation where the time we are outside increases. My knees, hips, legs, back, shoulders will be ruined before long. They will have staff dropping like flies if they make it any more physical.



People keep saying 'mail is well down, mate'...... I go to most houses 4, 5 or 6 days per week. I am always saying to myself 'in this day and age why are people getting so much mail'. When I have 2 days mail it is absolutely ridiculous. A lot of households have as much mail in 2 days as I'd get in 1 whole year.

The only types of properties that don't get much mail are apartments.

I think later starts and finishes will be inevitable, given all the stuff we have read about since this dispute started. Hopefully we will still have a finish time. Sunday working will come in, but not every week. Less hours in summer and more in winter as well. I know it’s only guessing, but all the literature we’ve had recently suggests all this will happen. I received paperwork on Friday stating what will change at my DO. But we’ll see and if it’s too harsh hopefully we can vote it out.

I don't get how later working is going to help us....

We will be stuck in traffic for an extra 10 to 40 minutes a day depending on where our rounds are. Say it works out at an average of 20 minutes stuck in traffic per day per round. That's a big increase in fuel costs and a huge amount of money wasted on 100,000 staff daily. If my maths is correct it will probably cost the company close to £500,000 a day. How much will moving to later starts save the company to offset this? I think one of the reasons they claimed to be moving to later starts was down to wanting to be greener. There is nothing green about sitting in rush hour traffic.

Can’t help but think that the later starts are being brought in to piss off the workforce & encourage senior posties to leave & find alternative employment,from what I see from social media,it appears to be working
