The worst-case scenario is we dont agree to the new deal, and the union have called off strike action before the ballot ends. Then what?
IF the union call off the strikes, they will clearly believe that they have the basis of a deal that they can sell to the members.
They will then go into overdrive to convince everyone that this is the deal of the century and Branches will advise their members to accept it (or face the consequences)
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.
I’m a veteran of numerous past disputes where the union have been suckered into calling off planned strikes ‘because talks are going well’… and then the talks have gone like Aristotle.

Then, suddenly, it’s too late to give notice for a pre-Christmas strike ans everyone on here moans like f**k. Thompson had the axe over his head with the financial results. Now is the best time to keep the strike dates in place.
You think he’s going to tell shareholders‘I didn’t pursue a deal because they weren’t playing nicely-nicey’ ?

The likes of Amazon and ARGOS have already started their sales to beat any disruption. Two weeks is a long time and people will be stocking up for Christmas

Black Friday will still be the day when most orders are made unless Amazon etc really ramp up the deals in the week before the strike.
Dave & Co mentioned in the last member meeting that even if an agreement has been made, they still need to ballot members on whether we agree or not. So strikes will still be on regardless.

If the black friday strikes were on regardless then whats the incentive for RM to make an agreement? The whole point of them is to force RM's hand to an extent - so if the plan is for them to still go ahead even if we were being balloted on a provisional agreement then that incentive for RM to come to an agreement isnt there.

Strikes won't be on regardless if there is an agreement reached. ( not very hopeful though).
