so will the cwu still be serving notice to the company on the 10th November regardless how talks are going to keep our 4 day strikes valid ?,Martin Walsh wrote: ↑06 Nov 2022, 14:22I have not seen the FT article but I can guarantee you that the Postal Executive decision to announce the 24,25 ,30 November and 1st December are still on and we have to serve the legal notice for 24th on 10th November.
In terms of views about ST playing us , we all have an opinion but what if the board and key shareholders had gone along with Thompson plans believing that members and union would be broken.
Now those same board members and key shareholders are saying when is this dispute going to be settled as uncertainty is never good in business.
So maybe ST wants to announce on 17th November half year results they there is an agreement with the CWU and the dispute is resolved and that the agreement will help turn around the company finances.
In terms of the question is the consultative ball Still on ? No it has been paused as the Royal Mail offer is now subject to further negotiations.

Can you please circulate to all your what’s app groups , reps and members :
The CWU have got some fundamental red lines which clearly we will hold our ground on and that is no compulsory redundancies, no new owner drivers and no to the creation of a cheaper workforce competing for work with the existing workforce.
The CWU know the strength of feelings over Sundays , later starts , sick leave and annualised hours.
We do believe that we can find acceptable solutions to most of what Royal Mail’s change program providing they are willing to compromise too.
Take it in.
Very, very different to what we were balloted on.
"Strength of feeling over Sundays, later starts, sick leave and annualised hours".
Basically we're getting some form of all of those because they're not red lines.
Dress this up however you like.
We're about to get shafted.
Start looking for a new job everyone.

If the union agrees to any of this then immediately cancel your union subs.Dexydog wrote: ↑06 Nov 2022, 16:38Read this part.Martin Walsh wrote: ↑06 Nov 2022, 09:44Urgent

Re: Members update
We basically kept the union relevant by backing them and now it looks like they are going to sell us down the river. They are protecting their own position and member numbers. I'd guess the majority of current workers would rather new starters where employed in new terms if it means ours can stay the same. We are more concerned about our terms and conditions than someone who might be employed in the future. Might sound harsh but it's the reality from talking to people in my office

Re: Members update
Perhaps as a union they need to protect existing members and future ones.
Which inevitably means compromise.
BUT- it's the current ones that pay their subs, and there's no way I for one will put up with annualised hours.
And a lot won't want later starts for childcare reasons.
Some may like taking sick and getting paid if they have a sniffle.
Most won't want Sundays because they like a drink Saturday nights.
The union should have been honest from the start- instead they balloted on no strings and here we are.

If there’s no finish time I for one will be off. I will wait to see if there is any redundancy offered first though.

Re: Members update
Commit to deliver isn't mentioned in the latest union statement.
If that isn't a red line, nothing is.
You can only take from that it's still on the table.

I know you have to give Royal Mail something but after Simon Thompsons behaviour on workplace I dont think this should be much at all. This type of character makes a lot of threats, and laughs at you, because you are less wealthy than him. Many of his ideas seem like change for the sake of change and its not clear how these lead to greater profits/efficiencies. They may create new ways in for the competition. Because Simon Thompson is such an indecent personality we should definately strike during December. If it hadn't been him it would be different, but they chose him.

Our T&Cs must not get any worse.
Our workloads certainly can't be allowed to get any worse, either.
As it stands now, I really can't be arsed about this bloody soul destroying job, and this utterly s**t f***ing company.
Any worsening of this bloody job will be the final straw.

Re: Members update
What's the CWU's response to Q&A document RM released on Workplace, which basically states that they have no intention of increasing their latest pay rise offer and that offer is still subject to the CWU agreeing a programme of change?
I can't understand why the ballots were called off, why didn't they continue on the basis the results would only need to be released if talks broke down, as a massive vote of no confidence would give the BoD something to mull over when they announced their results. Now we well could get to the 17th with no agreement and ST under no real pressure when he announces the latest results.

Depending where you work I sense the move to parcel hubs is inevitable and that will lead to rounds increasing in size. I can't see the RM stepping back from removing the allowances.DirtyHarry wrote: ↑06 Nov 2022, 17:49Our T&Cs must not get any worse.

Does this mean revisions / realignments aren’t happening?
No. Revisions and realignments are vitally important to improve our productivity in light of declining workloads. Planning for revisions will still continue by managers, however we will pause on local consultation on redundancies with CWU Reps and employees.
Is Royal Mail considering keeping the previous two-year MTSF voluntary redundancy terms?
As we set out previously, the current MTSF terms are unaffordable. We have said that we will discuss and consult with CWU on how the redundancy process will work, including things like selection criteria and terms for voluntary redundancy.
Does the mean that the pay offer will be increased?
As we said in the offer letter on 31 October, given our financial position, this is the best offer we can make and it is subject to agreeing a programme of change with CWU.
Does this mean that we can expect more overtime in my office?
Where available based on workload, employees will be offered overtime opportunities using our normal practices.

Re: Members update
Someone mentioned in another thread that their DO will be getting all the large parcels back starting in the new year, which makes me think that RM are abandoning the idea of local parcel hubs
