I thought their plan was for all the deliveries to start 2+ hours later? The rural's are an issue as they can't have dedicated parcel routes.

I think the plan for ours is for us to start 75 minutes later, we will have parcel routes but they will be done from another office. Not sure why the rurals can’t have dedicated parcel routes, every other courier must operate there as well. How will the LAT’s connect with the rurals then unless the rural start times are going to be even later still?

Yes I'd consider 1 Sunday every 4 years. But only because I'm nearly 60

The working people who keep the cogs turning and make millions for the company,simon and the shareholders are just s**t on from a great height and it seems that every other year we have to try and get a half decent wage through lengthy negotiations.its like getting blood out of a stone.we deserve more respect from the likes of simon thompson.without us he would have f*** all.keep the workforce happy and you lift morale

VESA is just another asset stripper like American corporates taking over British companies, load debt on it, strip it down and destroy it, taking the profits leaving wrecked lives.

If GLS gets split off from letter, Royal Mail letter could go bust unless the Government takes it on, the public outrage would topple any Government.

This is exactly the issue. It is the group (IDS) as a whole, not royal mail, that is listed.

You can damn well bet therefore that dividends and executive bonuses are paid to shareholders based on GROUP performance, not Royal Mails individual performance. If STs nails Royal Mail to the wall for the benefit of the GROUP he'll get his bonus for helping the GROUP. Hell maybe he will resign, AFTER the damage is done. I'm sure he'll be rewarded well for this.

As has been pointed out even in the mainstream media, the refusal to cross subsidize is an absolute cynical CHOICE, not a necessity. They obviously believe it would be more profitable for them, in the greedy short term, to let RM wither and die and to sell the rest. Perhaps the government will have to take it up to have some form of postal service. They are making a mockery of the legal obligation to the universal service.

Amazon are one of the worlds biggest companies precisely BECAUSE they cross subsidize. Amazon Web Services, which powers literally 1/3rd of the internet with cloud services (including the CIA for gods sakes) provides ONE THIRD of ALL of Amazons revenue. Imagine the billions! And what Amazon do is take that revenue and open into new markets at a loss, control there and dominate, and rake it in.

I'm not suggesting the RM should become anything like Amazons in their world dominance, but they COULD cross subsidise and invest in taking Royal Mail forward in a sustainable way and invest in their employees. But no, slash and burn, easy money, why bother with all that?

Of course a lot of us wouldnt care if at the end of day Royal Mail alone gets nationalised again and the rest buggers off to the city boys. But you should be pissed, because GLS was bought whilst RM was in public hands. Like a lot of the assets that have carved off, that was taxpayer money that bought all that!

The CWU told us at the start we should be getting an above inflation, no strings pay rise. So at least 10%, and that’s just for this year, not for 2 years. They’re obviously not going to achieve this. I have no idea of what they will actually accept? Does anyone?
