To be fair, there has to be a deal that does this, otherwise it's just mutually destructive. Nobody benefits from that.

People aren't going to like the deal, but maybe they'll accept it once the Union backs it and says it's the best we could get. Ultimately that's all the Union can do.

Will any deal provide a period of stability in Royal Mail though, now that's another question.

Can’t say I’ve noticed a decline, if there is it’s because companies are moving away from RM because of the impending strikes, which is exactly what the union were/ are trying to achieve

The talks are now intense, so there will be intense talks as previous talks weren't intense enough or at all, all very tense.

Usual tactics, some tenuous 'common ground' has been reached through intense talks. No resolution, but at least we have both agreed the talks to be intense.

I've brought back mail and/or claimed overtime pretty much every day since the revision.

-9% pay rise or 7% pay rise and a lump sum of £1000
-5 day letter service Mon-Fri.
-Posties working week will vary, but each Postie will prob work 2 in 6 Sundays and 3 in 6 Saturdays.
-Sick pay stays as it is.
-Start times stay as they are.


As well as this RM should...

-Increase letter and parcel prices by 10%.

-Start charging for customer collections instead of offering it for free when RM are losing money.

-Use some common sense and work out fair sizes of all round within own depots between manager/postie/union rep instead of moronic revisions led by people sitting on a laptop marking up a round who have never done a posties round in their whole lives.

-Make it worth Posties while to do overtime instead of paying agencies and their staff double or triple a posties pay.

-Sell RM land and instead rent if that's more economical or RM need some cash to reinvest.

People will, if they enhance the redundancy terms to say £30,000 for someone who's done over 25 years and water down some of the strings attached people will vote for a 6% pay rise over 2 years and a £500 bung if the union recommends it.

In another couple of years, the circus will start all over again.
