even moving duty holders to other offices
I really hope those duty holders did it by the book and started on time at their regular office, insisted on transport to and from the other office, then clocked out on time back at the regular office.
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

Not much point in doing overtime then.
Unbelievable, when you leave or are made redundant, find another job that you say your new employer 'I'll do O/T but want an extra 2/3 hrs you'll be laughed out the door!

Remember also what is now to stop RM checking for overpayments & re-claiming the hours paid that haven't been worked. :whistle :cuppa

Four staff I know of have been called out to come in on their day off just now to cover dropped bags as the place is a bombsite.

They said strictly no overtime, lasted 48 hours

Some companies offer enhanced ot rates or weekend rates as an incentive. This is just the way managers get round RM offering no incentive for ot in a physical job.

I won't quote Trumanity, but the vast majority of things that might have been late by post would, in my experience, have been dealt with online. Physical items excluded, anything that's on paper is dealt with online. I have had nothing important delivered in letter format in years.
Voting documents, guardian subscriptions, BMI journal, Radio Times subscriptions, (any magazine subscriptions), any academic supplementary journal subscriptions, supermarket rewards statements (nectar, tesco, boots), Pets at home reward scheme, annual pension statements, mobile phone contacts, community protection advisory notices, NHS letters (appointments, etc...), Details of direct debit instructions set up, notification of change of address from bank for students, any notification of interest rate changes from financial institutions, Cheques sent to home addresses, Royal mail notifications, CWU notifications, HMRC tax calculations, Annual mortgage statements, Solicitors correspondence, all postal advertising....all of these types of documents are posted, sometimes e:mailed as pdf. and also posted. I don't deny that the trend towards on-line is growing but I seriously doubt that you have had "nothing important delivered in letter format in years." Most of these examples are from the paper received through my door over the last month. I do everything on-line so what's the reality? Post still exists and can be very often considerable.
There are only magazine subscriptions because people are too lazy to go and buy it from a shop, why don't they just get them delivered with their groceries, which no doubt they have delivered as well.

Can you imagine a part timer wanting to do half a walk to top up their wages, back to office bag up, load van, drive out and deliver in pouring rain. Get back and manager says you get hour and half for that. After tax they'll be looking at that and thinking what was the point. There's no point saying other jobs would do this and that. Other jobs tend to be in the warm and dry with a roof over their heads. I wouldn't mind doing an hours overtime for an hours pay sitting down in the warm. This isn't like other jobs, you can't compare it.

Exactly. It’s not worth it when the rate is less than your regular hourly rate. There would be no incentive to take on outdoor overtime if you just got the time it took to do it.

Regardless of peoples thoughts on working to rule or working to their time (I think I did a thread a while ago), I don't understand why the company are trying to halve staff overtime when they are still using agency workers after strike days

Given the cost of living crisis its quite spiteful the company doing this as its probably costing them more money.
To break people.
Yep .. not paying us to do the extra that lets face it these s**t revisions caused. Bringing agency muppets in who don't know the walk and bring everything back as no access even though these are terraced streets. It's designed to starve us. f**k em.
Bingo! At least some posters can read an open book.
Well, sometimes it's best to read that book OUT LOUD. I am actually aware of what managers are doing.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Whilst you are technically correct, its imlortant to note that most companies pay a premium for overtime, so that is the motivation to do so. Ghosting, no matter your opinion of it, was people's way of gaining a premium fot their OT labour. Obviously some will have taken piss by booking 3x the time the work took etc.

Magazine subscriptions are a big thing with certain bank accounts. I deliver a ton for Lloyds, for example. It isn’t just laziness, it is also convenience. We should be begging for more work anyway as it safeguards our jobs.

Royal Mail doesn't get paid fairly for delivering them though.
We deliver them on behalf of other operators, and thanks to Ofcom we can't undercut them.

Subscriptions are cheaper and if you use tesco clubcard vouchers they are cheaper still, I get sent a monthly magazine as part of my bank account package..free!! Nothing to do with being too lazy to go to a shop. Now monthly gin club or make up boxes I could do without as the recipients are never in and no safe place 🤦‍♀️

They were advertising on TV a couple of days ago
