Isn't that highly illegal?
enforceable in a IT ,providing you've exhausted the RM Grieviance Procedure , all the DDA Acts have been stepped up from the original one in 95.

Problem is will the DUM put in writing or will he deny it and say you've no witnesses . Go through the CWU or even Simpson & Miller if the need arises , RM would like to withdraw DDA Protection though Crozier is "supposed " to champion it . Typical RM, always regarded themselves as above the law only it's got worse with :lfo & . :cfo .

Idiotic Bully of a DIM , that's probably a "sickness" too !

Hey I am AG and the reason I am AG is because my DOM (not line manager) refuse to give me a full time contract because of my disability or in his words sickness, I want to be full time
So your an AG???? And you have a disability... Then it shouldnt matter if your an AG or not its the fact your covered By the DDA is all you should be worried about and i stand by you on this... BUT i still say.. F/T RIGHTS should come first when there is ANY job going... The Union had a stand on P/T workers being made up to F/T. But in my opinion they knew RM would never make them up.. Its just more money in the CWU coffers... Its wrong in my book that people with a chance to work two jobs and still knock F/T workers off of O/T (9 HR rule) and pick up seniority for doing half the hours worked..

Before THE WAY BACKWARD it was PRO-RATA... Now its changed and in my view of being a F/T postie its wrong...

Its RM's way of devide and rule... NO ONE SHOULD BE TAKEN ON P/T anymore with all the posties being either attacked as a F/T and made to feel under pressure because of a RM stance on F/T rights.. Its OUR ONLY JOB so we should be given the lion share... Im all for rights for all but as we all know RM only see rights when it suits them...

The devide happened back when the fools voted in the WAY BACKWARD...

Now its baring fruit for RM in getting rid of posties or making them P/T from F/T...

out :cfo :lfo I blame these two...

Its not the persons fault or am i having a go at AG's... I just think if the Union back in the day stood up and made RM make A/G's after a set period of time.. Say 12months up to F/T then i feel the union would of done a good job for all.. But the way it is now , its one of the reasons the devide in each office is about and its so hard to make a level playing field... RM want this and have fecked the job up for the F/T with more than 10 years in in my opinon...

Seniority rules and now that A/G's get FULL SENIORITY over there part time work.. I feel that the rights of the full timers have been not looked after... And then inturn the job has employed more peoples who treat this job as a stop gap and make wait....

Not all AG's want fulltime as it dont pay enough... But Full timers still get stung with O/T that A/G's take from the pot... If ag's had there own O/T and couldnt sign for F/T O/T like before then it would be fair...

Its not the peoples fault its RM playing us again against each other....

out :cfo :lfo I blame these two once again....

I'm P/T and bloody sick of it - but no bugger wants to give me F/T ( well, except those I work with ). I'm stuffed for doing O/T cos either I take the scraps of Ext Dels, or grab a spare delivery ( not that I want to do any bloody extra walking ), either way, it's not a bloody living wage - but they won't let me sort, "....because you don't know the sorting frames, so you'd take too long." And they won't let me drive, despite asking for an assesment for over a year "....because we have to make the most of the training budget, it's not that big, so we'll wait till a few people want driving assessments."

However, due to recent retirements / sackings, including a recent one this week, I was suddenly told to fill out a form, and bring in my driving licence so an assessment can be booked & told they will be getting me into the caller's office for training next week & for leave cover the week after - of course, it has nothing to do with that recent sudden departure being a jack of all trades ( bus driver, rural floater, caller's office cover ).

To all new starters - RM don't give a flying f*ck about you, or what you might need to do, to live your life....YOU WILL NEVER BECOME F/T. It might be a great job, with great customers and colleagues, but if you can, get out and get something else.....the terms and benefits are no better than a lot of other jobs, and conditions are a lot better elsewhere - it's too late for me, I'm stuck here, but get out while you can!
I don't suppose your mouth bleeds every 28 days, does it?

There's no such thing as an AG anymore, we are all unigrade - either full time or part time.

The reason the contracts are being held to PT is the fact that there is less IPs and of course the walk sequencers will mean even less and as far as I can see the CWU has not made a stance on a like for like exchange - i.e. full timer leaves, duty is advertised, part timer takes duty, full time duty lost. That does oversimplify the situation as it is about the overall hours necessary for each discipline. How many duties in your office are now so part time they have a full timer taken off IPS to prep it?

Sorry if I didn't make it clear - I am P/T, and for all I know, I always will be part time :d'oh! .....but it won't be for want of trying for a F/T contract. :lfo :cfo

Another problem with full timers is when the walk come up, and it is mainly 28/34 hours walks. I want a walk of my own to get a routine. I was told some people have to wait 10 years to get their own walk full time. Crap :(

You'd think that was the case and in some instances it is - BUT there are full timers here doing 70 hours a week, or at least BOOKING it, whilst the majority of part timers are stuck with their part time hours or have to take the dregs to make a living wage. You'd think the CWU would have a little more concern because they have to provide the same services to a part timer for only half the subs. You've hit the nail on the head about the denigration of the service concomitant with the influx of part timers.

I must say that part timers are treated differently in our office. They never seem to be included in WTL because most of them aren't on site when they are held, they aren't asked to come in early to prep or sort and the overtime is a bit thin on the ground for them because they are by and large out later. That picture hardly paints a canvas full of enthusiasm for the job or the customer or the union or unity. TBH I'm surprised they stick it as long as they do.

In my D.O we have 5 PT Duties, 1PT Floater and 1 PT reserve all on 28 hour contracts and thats the way they like it.

Then there is myself on a 30 hour week after stinging RM for almost 5 grand on a buy down of hours.

Part timers do exactly the same as FT but have a smaller delivery and no IPS, none of this FT preping their rounds stuff. Some of the bigger rural duties have no IPS.

One thing i advise you all to remember is that RM cant change a duty from 40 hours a week to less hours a week without getting the all clear from the local CWU rep. If they dont get the all clear and go ahead regardless then the rep should be slamming in a dissagrement.

Its also time for CWU to start fleshing out reduced working week policy so we get some benefit from new machinery instead of RM getting ALL the benefits. WE must make sure that RM are not allowed to gouge themselves on savings from new machinery and share the spoils with the rank and file.

I would like a policy that 50% minium of wages saved through staff reduction from new machinery is invested in wages. In otherwords although there is less staff RM paybill does not go down!

When FT vacanies occur in my office then part timers if they wish can become FT and the vacancy advertised is then PT.
