Jesus guys get some backbone would you, never seen such negativity about this place ever. I seldom post because usually somebody posts something vaguely sensible, but this defeatist claptrap is unworthy of this site. Simple simon has you all running scared and all he did was get the same deal and make it look different, stop whinging stand back and have a good look at what the future holds for you if you agree to what he wants. Then stop the CWU criticism and back your union and have some faith. Simon is only trying to wear you all down with his tactics, taking vague details of a agreement to say its no longer relevant, wanting very specific details for the AI which are very difficult to answer to scare the union into withdrawing it, going on workplace and baiting every idiot who will take heed with his posts and just generally fighting a very dirty fight. Its the first dispute in my 60yrs i have seen fought on social media and to be truthful i find it quite unsettling the way the CEO has behaved with his tactics, i guess the youngsters think this is ok but its not for me. This Despot is intent on destroying Royal Mail and your jobs along with it and be under no illusions that it will only get worse. As for me i will hang about and do my job which i have enjoyed for the last 15yrs until it is no longer workable or if i stand firm and back my union i might have a job that is workable with a good work life balance and i can retire in 5 years.

Check the cwu website under royal mail strike. It tells you the next strike dates. It's quite simple really.

When is the major shareholder meeting? Who is invited?
Can we all go?
I am fascinated by what the alternative business plan might include.

Since when did it become the union's role to make up a business plan?
You must have spent months or years of your life on this forum but now just tremendous negativity?

To answer your question >> when the employer's business plan will destroy the working conditions of all 115,000 members it is fighting on behalf.

Well said!! - never have I seen such quitters - first sign of adversity and they quit. Where is the resilience! No backbone - stand up and fight!! [what will you be like if we go to war with Russia?? - gonna quit??

Don't want to hear about no money - can guarantee that 99% on here are in a better place than I am - I was insolvent just 5 years ago and I didn't win the lottery anytime since.

How does anyone have confidence in this union. Name one thing they have done correctly or in any way influenced the decisions of RM?
Watching the Facebook presentations have been embarrassing and you can see why RM are always one step ahead. I will continue to strike until XMas, but I think we all need to face facts, we are not winning this one at the most we will get small concessions, but these will only stave off the inevitable. It’s crazy what RM want our jobs to become, but I don’t see any way that we will stop this.

Maybe we can’t stop it, maybe we can’t win but to just accept it and not try would be shameful. Anyone that is willing to has no right to complain about the yearly worsening of conditions because if we lose this the current changes they want will seem minor compared to what they will bring in.

Whatever the alternative plan for the future of RM that Dave Ward and the CWU say they have will never even get as far as the starting post.

Even if it was the best plan ever produced and could work, ST will not entertain one word of it, the reason being because it has come from Dave Ward & Co.

ST seems to be making it very clear that he will not let the CWU be involved in running the company. To accept Ward's plan would be seen as exactly that and a defeat.....so NO chance.

The more I digest what is going on....the more it looks like being simply ST v DW.

Assuming they turn up to the meeting DW will be putting the union's plan to the the major shareholders not ST, who knows if they'll buy into the union's plan or not but surely it's worth a try? Problem is DW may convince them the union's plan is a good one but Vesa have no interest in the plan.

Hindsight is always 20:20

It was explained at the beginning why we wouldn't do 1 week strikes - we'd lose the members who claim they can't take the financial loss.
It's also been explained that we're not here to strike but to negotiate a good agreement and strike action aims to bring the employer to the negotiating table.
It was agreed to ramp up the action as a result of unprecedented action by RM tearing up all previous agreements.
RM saw 2/3 technical errors in the notification. It has been explained how complicated this is and also how the CWU depend to a certain extent on information that management has to provide them. What are the chances this information is out of date? Very likely. I am 100 sure that the records of hazards and dangerous dogs on 99% of walks are inaccurate - this is the RM we are dealing with here folks - there is bound to be inaccurate record keeping.
NETHERTHELESS - here we are in talks with ACAS and so far they have yielded a better pay offer (according to RM) as Martin Walsh has said - the strikes are having an effect or else we wouldn't be in negotiations at all.
If the union has failed anywhere it is to under-estimate the machiavellian deviousness and rutherlessness of ST and the Board.

I fail to see how any of this is pissing in the wind.

This is politics here. The eventual aim is to get public opinion on our side and this spineless government has shown itself to be swayed by public opinion time and time again. When DW's plan is rejected he will be able to turn around and say that a reasonable alternative plan that saves the jobs of tens of thousands of people was rejected by the board in favour of asset stripping a company that is classed as a national security asset. Maybe gutless Keir Starmer will swing onside - he is scared witless of being seen to favour strikers - I hope that is remembered as well.
