Panniers are not supposed to be for mail they cannot be secured so if you D.O.M. lets staff use panniers he is just as fault as the postman that uses them. They are for you wet weather gear. When delivering up long paths you are supposed to carry your pouch with you how can you do that with a pannier? Get your local rep on to this mate. Your not the first to have had a special STOLEN FROM YOU and you wont be the last.

If that's true then why does Lighten the Load state:

Staff must carry one pouch in the rack only plus additional mail in panniers if fitted. (16kg Pouch, 8kg per pannier).

Hi their thanks for the reponse just a quick reply,

Sandyman My manager actually came up to me with a brew (shocked) and told me not to worry and the most he can see happening is a slap on the wrist and I got the interview tomorrow so whose knows. I am actually more bummed about the loss of the SD rather then worrying about disclipine action and I think he understood that so with any luck I will inform more on the morrow.

Pop in Pete, when I was first given panniers I assume they was for use with mail as the other two who uses them uses them for mail and I was told no difference. My managers see me using them, even loaded them once for me, and lack of bag drops round certain rounds meant that it was easier. It was only until I came on here that I found out different and hence why when I am on my rounds they carry my food supply and drinks, also useful for shopping on the way home.

K979aaa I still got old faithful, the first bag I was ever given and even then it was already holey. It was only recently when I started helping the new starters that I manage to acquire some new bags as if by magic

Probably is a small word with a bigger meaning, you should always ask for things in writing.

You strongest card here is the fact that you're more bothered about losing the special than any action they take. That alone will carry alot of weight in the interview and your DOM has no doubt informed them of that. Try not to worry.
