Re: What is the point of negotiation?
When you get a board as thus one then you are never going to negotiate they do not care what happens as they have more or less broke up the company in two, will ket rm wither and die and asset strip .The young ones won't last 6 months ,as we are seeing now ,the old ones just want out .the union have to shoulder a lot of blame by not getting everything totally above board ,that us their j9b they have had six months if planning to ensure that.so in effect list 8 days pay for nothing .face facts rm is just another parcel company we are beaten on price and quality so why should our terns be so much more the amount of people on here talking this and that means that the healthy live to work us exact opposite. For me I could not care kess anymore once I know the redundancy psciage I m leaving a sinking ship .

There will not be anymore strike days.redlen wrote: ↑02 Nov 2022, 09:54Call me cynical but Royal Mail already has a large alternative workforce inplace ready to fill any gaps.
Am talking about the Royal Mail Christmas Casuals starting to appear. Extending their temporary contracts will be a formality.
Then we have Angard Staffing Solutions who work all year round.
Angard support for the strikes has been solid but they now feel angry and rejected. The Christmas casuals are taking their shifts and are being stood down. The CWU has done nothing about this. They have bills to pay and are now talking about working strike days as they have no other form of income after being stabbed in the back. Many of Angard staff are members of the CWU and their voice is being ignored.
Royal Mail staff might lose a days pay here and there due to industrial action, Angard have nothing to lose as they are not working.
If that is not obvious to everyone by now then they need to revisit the actions of the CWU over the last 7 days.
Alot of Angard personel crossed picket lines of every strike day using an 8 week old law passed by the Tory government designed to break the rail strikes,
Now it's time to say goodbye as RM bring in thousands of temporary contract seasonal workers.
Agency were only in work because we were striking, and now we will never take another strike day again and everyone know's it.

If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

Re: What is the point of negotiation?
The vocal minority are on here and not even the majority of those here call for a weeks strike because they are realistic, not many will do it.
I am surprised Simon T hasn't done an Asda on us yet, here are your new contracts, sign or we will take that as your resignation. Don't anyone think we are irreplaceable, you are just a number.
Last night Webb was saying how great it was that they had what 17,000? watching, a little over 10% of the workforce. Most people I speak to now are totally pissed off with it and are loosing faith. There is no reason to have called off the 12rh and 14th, forget ballots, we are either going to give another massive yes which will change nothing or accept his deal, very unlikely, just a waste of 3 weeks. There is nothing to discuss, we gave a massive mandate for action for a no strings pay deal, we gave another to oppose the changes. After all this time we have got absolutley nowhere, if I am wrong show me the proof, what concessions has ST made? f**k all, what will he make? f**k all and why? Because the shareholders are getting their dividends, if they stop getting them he will be ousted and a carbon copy of him will be put in.
A good while ago, Alan Leighton claimed we were loosing a million pounds a day, different bloke, same song.

Re: What is the point of negotiation?
Did you expect anything else?
Probably best to form your own rank-and-file committee now.
Apart from not being part of the negotiating team, I think one of the reasons Simon won't attend the meetings is because the stench of desperation emanating from the CWU team is now overpowering.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Re: What is the point of negotiation?
Been saying that should of been the strategy from day 1 but some members think tinkering around will get the job done. A tsunami is coming our way and all people harp on about is losing money/can't afford it.POSTPERSON50 wrote: ↑02 Nov 2022, 09:26It doesn't want to keep the current workforce, they want a cheaper more subservient workforce, but at the moment they are stuck with us. Use our power in numbers and call out the members for a week.MURPHYBROWN wrote: ↑02 Nov 2022, 09:14This is assuming RM wants to keep the current workforce.
It's a big assumption.
Use all possible measures to help struggling families with the wage loss. Advise the members how to budget their finances to cope with the financial hit. Yes it's tough, but we will lose more money and get nowhere with the current strategy.
Do it now while we still have some clout.
Well they'll end up losing a damn sight more than a few weeks of pay.
Stand up to them fight fire with fire!

The problem is GLS is no more with cross subsidy. That was the only part of Royal Mail that made any real money. The profits they accumalated subsidised parcels and deliveries, The Covid bonanza is also at an end.

Re: What is the point of negotiation?
imo IT IS an unfair comment. Some of the criticism on here is way way OTT and destructive criticism rather than constructive criticism. If a postie has never put him/herself forward to be elected as a rep then they should be very, very circumspect in their criticism.
Indeed we do pay subs for professionals to negotiate on our behalf. I don't know about any of you, but I pay for them to take the best decisions on my behalf based on their experience and their reading of what is undoubtedly a difficult industrial action. I AM NOT PAYING FOR PERFECTION! So many analogies with football management. If some of you guys were chairmen at a professional football club you'd have a new manager every fortnight.
You should all pipe down a bit, think before you post, and also take into account that undoubtedly there are management trolls on here trying to sow discord and confusion - and when you react - they have succeeded.

Re: What is the point of negotiation?
I NEVER thought we were going to get a good deal - did you? Good is subjective but if you meant a 10% payrise then no.
But there are degrees of shite. From stepping in some to drowning in a cess pit.
I'm hoping we can all avoid the worst changes to T&C and get a reasonable pay rise. 5% this year is bare minimum (for me) but 1.5 % next year is an insult - personally I can live with working the odd Sunday but delivering in the pitch black and as a consequence opening myself up to falling and consequent injuries AND having reduced sick pay terms increases the level of hazard substantially and frankly we are not paid even close enough for that level of employer abuse.

Well said , I’m actually considering chucking this forum in , it’s full of whingers with no solution, just constant criticism, Simon must love it.stevejm wrote: ↑02 Nov 2022, 17:37imo IT IS an unfair comment.
