Any proposal from the CWU has to take the members with it. If you start "going nuclear" you're just going to lose the less Militant/Determined/Bloody Minded.

It's difficult enough at the moment for Unit Reps to persuade a lot of their colleagues to Strike for just one day a week, it's a fine balancing act and if the CWU get it wrong you're likely to be stood on a very thin picket line whilst the rest of your colleagues succumb to the finacial pressure and return to work.

The CWU got it badly wrong with their and the CWU lawyers incompetence leading to the next 2 weeks strikes being called off. This incompotence has opened a wide open goal for Thompson and co to do what they have announced today. That said, I will never cross a picket line, financial pressure and a return to work argument can be made for anyone, but crossing a picket line is an absolute non starter for me. Nothing will be resolved, they shouldn't be mugging people into believing it.

I think the horse has bolted. Thompson is prepared for Christmas to be a disaster. All we can do is make it really ugly and hope that the current leadership are forced out because of it. Even then I don't think that will bother Thompson, he loves it.

The CWU can't compromise, the business definitely won't.

Sadly yesterday and today we still had the sad gits starting 40 mins early unpaid, then using the clock in machine on official start time. Unless the scan in system is linked to a massive iron door that won’t let you in the building before start time then these people will never change. Frustrating as hell to watch.

Even if those 40 minute guys had started bang on time for their entire RM working life it wouldn't make any difference to where we are now. I think all this blaming posties for starting before time, doing overtime, prepping 2 columns of d2d in a day rather than 1 etc etc for where we are now is a myth. If every single person had done everything to the book forever we would still being exactly the position we are now. What we are facing is asset stripping by capitalist vultures who've seen an opportunity to make themselves richer at the expense of others. We are just the latest in a line of victims, we must stop blaming each other and focus on the real enemy. That enemy is not Ted next to you who starts 10 minutes early and only takes his meal relief 4 time a week but is prepared to go the extra mile for his customers.
