Any proposal from the CWU has to take the members with it. If you start "going nuclear" you're just going to lose the less Militant/Determined/Bloody Minded.
It's difficult enough at the moment for Unit Reps to persuade a lot of their colleagues to Strike for just one day a week, it's a fine balancing act and if the CWU get it wrong you're likely to be stood on a very thin picket line whilst the rest of your colleagues succumb to the finacial pressure and return to work.

The CWU got it badly wrong with their and the CWU lawyers incompetence leading to the next 2 weeks strikes being called off. This incompotence has opened a wide open goal for Thompson and co to do what they have announced today. That said, I will never cross a picket line, financial pressure and a return to work argument can be made for anyone, but crossing a picket line is an absolute non starter for me. I agree but there is no picket lines to cross for the next 2 weeks , so let’s see if they can thrash out a deal, if not Xmas is cancelled.

The union are naiive in the extreme.

P and o situation just waiting to happen. RM will say no other choice as company will go under. Living in cloud cuckoo land if you think public behind us. Were just another delivery company. All people care about is they get the parcels they ordered. Letters largely meaningless now. How often do people tell you all you ever bring me is junk. Union does themselves no favours with their save your local postie shite. They say they've never shied away from change yet we never seem to hear exactly what their masterplan to save the company is or exactly what it is they want from the pay deal.
Sick of the cloak and dagger we as members constantly have to put up with not to mention the embarrassing legal defeats RM seem to get over them time and again.
I wont ever cross a picket line but it's getting harder to see how the union can possibly win this fight.
Our union has not really used the power at it's disposal. Announce 1 week strike encompassing Black Friday. Give RM a few days to get their heads round the chaos. Then announce another week early in Decmber and another week before Xmas.
Whenever I look at Thompson I can't help but think that he's one of those people that smells of piss. He's just got that grubby unhygienic look about him.

If ST's dumb then how dumb are the CWU who he's completely out manoeuvred, why oh why did they go down the rolling strikes path when they could have just called a couple of days strike around Black Friday/Cyber Monday and caused real chaos rather than try and pull off the seemingly impossible, how many more times are they going to suggest the next meeting is "the most important in RM's history"?

You don't win by slagging off your own side. You win by sticking together and fighting for all its worth.
