The thing is this if you were outside RM then you would think this is a good idea, what comes up time and time again on lots of posts on different subjects is that no one trusts the RM management to use it in the correct way
the only way for them to take the workforce with them is to treat them with dignity and respect!
been told so much crap over the years that whatever they do now i just don't believe them
this is an issue and one that needs to be addressed, never will be by words alone, they need to show this by there actions and not as a one off exercise but from this day forward
A start would be to get rid of Crozier, we all know we need to modernize to move this company forward, but i meet so many people that are sick and frustrated with it all , why? because we CARE, it's so frustrating when we see what they are doing to the service
they have to decide if indeed it is a SERVICE or a BUSINESS

I think we all know that RM will buy the cheapest tat that they can and they'll break/go wrong in no time. I had a delivery recently from ParcelForce and I had to sign the electronic device but it wouldn't sign (and those scanners/pda devices are kept in vans not constantly exposed to the elements like the walkmen will be).

our offfice has these pda's on trial at the moment and very few people like them, every time you use them you have tap in your pin number then scan the barcode (which doesn't scan all the time so have to tap in the barcode) then tap in whether its been delivered or not then tap in the recipients surname then get them to sign it. four times it has frozen up on me completely so had to return items to office, how this speeds up the process i'll never no. line manager says I should take a delivery card out as back up i've told him if i take a card out that is what i shall use as it is far quicker. also try doing all that with a big bundle of mail in one hand. you are also expected to scan delivery notification items ie amazon.
i asked the people who first demonstrated them to us how much they cost and was told 800 - 900 each and our duty clerk told me she was shown on the computer how they can track people. so how ever much bad feedback there is from the trials i'm sure we all end up carrying them.

What realry bother's me if they run out of vaseline and rubber gloves it could be quite painful.dvbuk55 wrote:I have heard that they are thinking of installing individual trackers on each delivery officer - what worries me is the arrival of a case of vaseline and a shed load of rubber gloves with the tracker bundle.

Well that is only part of the problem - you are not allowed to use the loo during the working week - well not to sit down - that will have a small blessing, because all those who now waste time in the bog ..........................k979aaa wrote:What realry bother's me if they run out of vaseline and rubber gloves it could be quite painful.dvbuk55 wrote:I have heard that they are thinking of installing individual trackers on each delivery officer - what worries me is the arrival of a case of vaseline and a shed load of rubber gloves with the tracker bundle.

Anyone think the introduction of flexi working, planned summer lapsing ,end of job and knock and the introduction of scan/trackers might be linked?
Allan.
Yes Adam.
Well Al since we ended job and finish all our overpaid and underworked people have stopped sprinting around, productivity has taken a nosedive and the legions of casuals we recruited have such a high turnover rate things are getting worse.
Not to worry Adam we will combine our new tracking system with pegasus to solve this problem.
We scan them out of the office and provide each walk with three scan in checkpoints and scan them back in.
With our new performance standards we can expand the stage warning system to include any postie who fails to maintain the required delivery rate, repeated failure to achieve the required level of performance would obviously indicate that the individual is not up to the task.

Look they have started tracking posties in our DO already - causes havoc at checkout in tescos though, they tried to charge me £10 for a 50p newspaper.
