Our workload is starting to get heavier now with the lead up to Black Friday and Christmas, as long as we all take lunch breaks, work our hours etc.. then it's going to be hard to clear the office. Add to that two day strikes a week from now on it'll cause major disruptions for RM.

CWU Withdraws Strike Action for Next Two Weeks

The Communication Workers Union (CWU) has announced it has withdrawn all planned strike action in the next two weeks (2nd, 3rd, 4th, 8th, 9th and 10th November). As a result, the next strike action is expected to take place on 12th and 14th November 2022.

The CWU has withdrawn strike action following Royal Mail writing to CWU to highlight numerous material concerns with the formal notifications of planned rolling strike action.

Royal Mail and CWU have planned talks at Acas tomorrow, Monday 31st October 2022. We will continue to do all we can to keep business, companies and the country connected.

Honestly, what a f*cking union this is. It is unforgivable. And they wonder why people are disillusioned

The fact is there is a lot of legislation these days anti union and to do different strikes on different days and workplaces requires notice.

Don't be disheartened. This pause in IA doesn't exactly put any business customers at ease. The uncertainty is itself is doing the damage without anybody losing any pay through striking so consider this an opportunity to load up your ammunition for an all out strike during the pressure period where more and more colleagues will strike during a shorter window. We need a focused full committed strike where it really will hurt if we cannot get a deal soon

This is probably a stupid question, but if the rolling strikes were cancelled on a technicality, what's to stop the union fixing the technicality and announcing rolling strikes in December?

From what I understand RM want exact numbers of who is off and where and apparently that's difficult to say.

But then haven't rolling strikes been conducted before in RM, unless the laws have changed since.

So the two additional days were announced because they got the letter and they knew they’d f****d up. Nothing to do with the talks and anything else “becoming apparent” during the talk.

I still have no idea why this couldn’t have waited until tomorrow either.

Yes , we’d noticed, and we have to deal with that 6 days a week. Sunday is one day we should all be relaxing , taking time for ourselves and forgetting about it until tomorrow.
Not being interrupted with things that could easily have waited.

I would assume CWU wanted to give people notice straight away as the next strike is this Friday.

If theyd have come out tomorrow morning and said “we knew yesterday but didn’t want to disrupt your Sunday “ people would have appreciated that and maybe been a bit more accepting.
They didn’t.
They interrupted peoples Sunday , which would have already had people in the wrong mindset, then proceeded to tell them they’d f****d up. That’s only going to go one way. People being even angrier than they might have been in a week day.
I can’t for the life of me think why anyone would think that was a good idea.
There’s way too much here for me that doesn’t make any sense at all.
