Probably because we were struggling to survive week to week, with absolutely no spare income to put away. It not so easy to cut your cloth when all you have is a hanky.

No not a manager,just someone who is actually looking for advice along with other co-workers who are concerned about paying for kids,houses,energy bills etc,while still supporting the strike action and not being able to book docket.
As for 7 posts in 10 years,well with the above answer you can see why I don't bother posting on here.

If you can't afford to strike, get a Deliveroo or Amazon job. After all, that's what Royal Mail will become if we don't fight.

I've always been a Cynic so it comes as no surprise to me the antics that Current Cabinet Ministers get up to like investing in Arms Manufacturers or Dodgy Drugs Companies, let alone having Businesses run from Off Shore Tax Havens whilst trying to Tax the Shite out everyone else that can't affort to employ an accountant to fiddle it for them. Sorry I forget they're complying with current Tax Regulations in the countries in question. I think that's the same excuse used by Amazon, e Bay, Facebook, Apple, Microsoft, Adobe, Google.

I agree Simon Thompson is obviously aspiring to join the same club, although he's a minnow compared to some of these, he obviously shares the same contempt for his employees!

Listen not getting on a high horse but the way things are going we need to do this now for the next month or so. It is not easy for anybody the miners strike of 1984 was not easy that took 6 months or more and they did not win. Let us all see that we can win not a total victory but gain something rather than a total defeat that Simon Thompsons vision is for us all.

I'd like to know the circumstances of people who want to strike for months on end, some even calling for full weeks at a time. Where are these people regarding children, bills, mortgage, age, how long they've worked for the company and how long they plan on staying. I get the feeling most people who want to stay on strike are older with grown up kids and don't have to worry as much about Christmas and some bills.

Everyone is in a different position and don't want to stay off. With this ban on overtime part timers are only working 3 days a week. It's not enough to cope at the minute.

You are probably right with the thought that those who can just stay out until the cows come home are the more mature ones with less financial commitments. If I was still there I would probably be in that bracket too.

Where the big problem lies is some of these people don't accept that others are not in their position and are fighting with everything they have got to make ends meet in normal circumstances, but then also feel they must stand up to the draconian policies that are facing posties now. Infantile and ignorant suggestions like "go and work in between at Amazon or DPD" or "are you a manager" are what I would expect to hear from certain narrow minded individuals, a VERY small minority I had the misfortune to have to work with.

When someone is coming on here to ask advice (knowing that board members will be trolling this forum), the very least you should expect are sensible suggestions and to keep unity amongst the workforce. The board will relish in seeing posties against each other on here, and it will only strengthen their resolve.

But always remember: FAMILY first, work second. You work to live, not live to work.

Don't want to strike would rather work get paid and with good terms and conditions not accept any old crap the business puts forward!

For those that are asking about the CWU paying Strike Pay ..... Perhaps when this IA is finished they could contact the CWU and suggest that we pay a certain ammount a week to build up a Hardship Fund that could be used in future disputes to pay out Strike Pay?
