And the one that rankles most:

"We want to present our alternative vision to the company"

Over two months into this and no-one's any the wiser as to what they're seemingly only willing to discuss on our behalf.

Their unwillingness to engage with the company's priorities has become the biggest threat to the membership. Their unwillingness to compromise on anything is why the company is now coming after everything. The Union played itself. It is facing defeat and irrelevance.

There was an easy and just about palatable (for most) path through this where the threat of strikes was enough to bat away all the other attacks on T&Cs, secure a competitive enough payrise (given the reality of the company finances) by begrudgingly ceding ground on the later start times, and the occasional Sunday working. Sure, no-one is excited for either of those two concessions, but they are happening. They are the only two things the company really wanted and they're willing to see this through to get them. The Union ought to have recognized fairly early on where their position was strongest and where they could not hope to win. Instead they chose to die on a hill that much of its membership isn't that bothered (to the point they would happily destroy the company) about defending.

Instead, the company will ultimately win and secure what they need, but at great cost. There will be significant reputational damage and loss of business to a market flush with competition which will translate into falling revenues, further job losses and "insulting" payrises going forward. The Union thinks Royal Mail is still a nationalized monopoly. It's not. It's a private sector, publicly listed company that has to make money to pay wages. It's not subsidized by the taxpayer, and will never be again. The Union needs to allow the company to modernize to compete, else we'll just be back here again in 12 months time, the company asking for the same things, and offering even less in return for them.

Utter bullshit from start to finish.

It's RM who have refused to talk, right from the very start. RM have taken unilateral executive action left, right and centre. They're threatening to de-recognise the CWU. How you think those are the actions of a company ready and willing to engage with its workforce is beyond me.

RM management and investors are not interested in modernising, do not care about the company's long term viability. They simply want to shred workers terms and protections back to the dark ages to stuff their own pockets in the short term. Then when RM is bled dry, they'll move on to another ripe target and destroy that too.

They can go to hell.

My own opinion is that this dispute is more to do with personalities than settlement now.
It has become very bitter in the language being used

Oh no somebody offers their own intelligent take on the situation and therefore they must be management.

Some people really need to grow up. It's no wonder the company takes the hard stance it does when you see some of the childish behaviour the union advocates.
