Personally i still love the job, but its the way the whole royal mail is being run that annoys me. Put 3 postmen with experience of royal mail into every office as short term managers and you would see a huge turn round within 6 months. Im sick of giving ideas of how the office can be improved only to find nothing is ever done. Once we are out delivering 95% of people are pleased to see us and this is the only thing that keeps me sane anyway
I know one of the managers and he isnt making that kind of money. more like 20k
but thats still alot like
Is he a part time manager(i know most work PT hours
)? I would imagine even the most clueless manager is on 25k before his bonuses for cutting hours and OT kick in.
but thats still alot like

I enjoy the job sometimes, but what does get me down is that I think that RM should do away with line managers and have 2 supervisors (probably experienced postmen/women) in each section and just pay them probably £35 a week more. I'm sure this would work better than the system RM has now, this would save RM alot of money, do we really need all these managers?

Thats a good idea, it would certainly cut down on people who try it on with managers and always get away with it. Also if your supervisor is actually doing the same job as you, your are more likely to respect their decisions and therefore probably more wiling to pitch in when the proverbial hits the fan.mailsort6 wrote:I enjoy the job sometimes, but what does get me down is that I think that RM should do away with line managers and have 2 supervisors (probably experienced postmen/women) in each section and just pay them probably £35 a week more. Our DOM is pretty decent he,s an ex posty but the trouble both he and we have is the dick head cluster manager brought in from macdonalds 2 years ago he has not got a clue, he still thinks he,s talking to a bunch of 17 year olds the thing that worries me is someone someday is going to belt him for the way he talks to grown men and that person will be history.
