POVF
The POVF...more of a threat to our jobs than any competitor..POVF stands for Post Office Voluntary Force. You know these people. They turn up at your office, dressed just like you,and start work up to an hour before they're supposed to.Taking away work from the official early starters, and stitching yours and their job up.But you cant tell them what damage they are doing, because then you will be pulled in for intimidation.
So beware the POVF,and dont let them invade your office as they have ours...

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

I noticed one today: 20hr PT duty but uses their car to deliver the only problem is the duty is only outside the office ie. the first delivery point if 30m from the office and at no time are you any further than 500m for the office
and to make it worse it's the smallest run in the office at less than 3hrs

I've been on this site for about 9 months and this keeps coming up. We tried telling them before, during and after the strikes but they do not listen. Even now that RM are implementing flexibility, have imposed later starts and are reneging on the early Saturday, they still come in early. They will never care about anyone but themselves. If only theirs was the only job they were risking. They assume that RM love them, but they are being used, they are allowing themselves to be used and RM are in no hurry to stop this practice as they save a fortune.
In my office however, staff are not allowed in until (I think) about 15 minutes before the start time. Our Union rep and H&S rep complained that staff who were coming in early were not covered by the employers insurance. Not sure if this is true, but the DOM at the time agreed to keep the doors locked until 4.40am (this was before the later starts).

Your Reps did a brilliant job arranging that the doors stay locked till 10mins before start time they have also got it so that none of you can go out on delivery before 9.45am and that way quadrant was saved in your officepinstripe wrote:I've been on this site for about 9 months and this keeps coming up. There was surprisingly few complaints and at least we still have a canteen. You're right about the reps, if only every office had them! Oh, and let's be honest our DOM's good as well.shelanda wrote:Your Reps did a brilliant job arranging that the doors stay locked till 10mins before start time they have also got it so that none of you can go out on delivery before 9.45am and that way quadrant was saved in your officepinstripe wrote:I've been on this site for about 9 months and this keeps coming up. I have been talking to my colleagues and have told them that the more we get on the start of our duties the more chance we have of keeping a full time job but coming in early running around not taking meal releifs all are another step towards all part time. I am not popular for getting an enforced meal break but hey one day they may thank you...........was that a pig I saw fly round the room!!!Fluke wrote:pinstripe wrote:shelanda wrote:Your Reps did a brilliant job arranging that the doors stay locked till 10mins before start time they have also got it so that none of you can go out on delivery before 9.45am and that way quadrant was saved in your officepinstripe wrote:I've been on this site for about 9 months and this keeps coming up. Using H&S I stopped people from coming onto the floor until 10 mins before their start time. Managers conceded and now its difficult for them to change their minds as I point out that its there overall responsibility to ensure H&S is enforced. Its just a pity that the staff who hate me for forcing the issue, cat see that their jobs are also being protected in the long run. We had delivery staff coming in 3 hours early,

POVF
Had a classic on friday morning....One of the POVF members came in half an hour early as usual, was prepped and ready to go before most others, and because he was sat around waiting, was made to prep a deferred round til anyone was allowed to go.And he had the cheek to moan about it...After relentless mickey taking and people trying to explain what he was doing wrong, he still didnt get it,and will probably be in working for nothing again tomorrow...I think the CWU should target these people and make them realise what they are doing, and the effect it has on everyones job.

I started work early this morning but that is due to needing to finish at 11.40 due to stupid 12.45 kick off time. I got there 2 minutes before kick off. I hated it. I was so knackered and stressed in first half, so at half time I had a quick wash and drink and then I feel refreshed to see
John Carew destroyed Newcastle United with a hat trick
I did ask for a smaller walk last week
Normally I arrived on time.
