I won't be selling my Sunday with the family for an effective pay cut. The union need to put Sunday working as non negotiable, for current staff. And if royal mail wanna push it, we will see them on the picket line in December!

5.5% is a lot more in £££ terms for them. And all for 2 or 3 hours work each morning.

It's still relative though, they've basically accepted what RM offered us including our bonus plus £1,000 whilst also agreeing to working 7 days a week and, it also seems, later finishing times.

Ummm, reading from this it doesn't actually say that managers HAVE to work on Sundays, only that they to 'resource' the necessary cover.

Back in the day when I did Sunday collections & recently Sunday parcels LATs, there's never a manager in sight.

The bigger elephant in the room as stated by ST, is that there is no more money & the company is losing 1million per day!

I don't care about Sunday working as long as it's not regular and as long as if you're down for a Sunday - you get the Saturday off...

but i'd also say - what about non-drivers - I guess they would get Sundays off whereas the rest of us that have a driving license will have to work. It should not be that way. It's not going to be fair is it. Sunday working deserves higher pay than the rest of the week.

It’s a night and day comparison between them and us if you look at it.

They get paid £40K a year for what looks to be a fairly easy job, obviously some hassle involved but offices seem to run well enough when they aren’t around.
They seem to bugger off about midday as well, that’s after an arduous day of sitting in the office after everybody has gone out; drinking coffee and listening to some bollocks on a conference call.

Seems like a far easier life than we have.

The fact they get paid what they currently do and are getting a pay rise at all is astounding to me. They should snap their hands off. They already rob Royal Mail blind every week.

Drivers in our office took a lump sum payment to be Drivers. Greedy bastard's couldn't wait for the payment. Why not, short loops, less D2D'S easy life.
