Not really any different to when they travelled alone when we had 5am starts, just as dark and more likely to be a lot more people around in the evenings than at silly o'clock in the morning.walthmstowman wrote: ↑25 Oct 2022, 10:31Just a thought but has anybody given any thought about our female colleagues travelling home alone later at night .thefox wrote: ↑25 Oct 2022, 10:17100% true

Or no it’s a lot worse than that it’s 6K.
No Government of any Political persuasion can produce energy out of thin air.
If you are one of these people who wants to beat Putin then get used to paying more for your energy.

I'd sooner stop him then let him continue across Europe! The Government has a duty to keep it's citizens living above the breadline so something will have to be done, unless gas prices drop by next April.milly wrote: ↑25 Oct 2022, 10:55Do what exactly!walthmstowman wrote: ↑25 Oct 2022, 10:33The government has to do something urgently about that . The Western governments only want to beat Putin to divide up the country and seize the Oil and Gas; and to get cheaper Gas and minerals and more like they have done to many other countries that have been blessed with such natural resources but not Europeans or such like.
Liz Truss actually tried to do something but went too far with other giveaways to the rich and less needy...
The government should just be honest and tell folks to economise (yes, austerity again). We have been too spoiled for too long!
Other European governments are taking their citizens to cut down on energy usage; do we all have to be so wasteful; even with food and so on?
* I saw someone recently burning the weeds off the pavement with some electrical gadget. Electric hedge trimmers, electric lawn mowers, electric jet washers, the list goes on. Central heating on tap, all gadgets left on

I agree. It is possiblethat inflation could increase to 20% in the next 12 months. That would make even a 12% pay rise for next year look like the biggest union own goal in history.tractorboy2 wrote: ↑25 Oct 2022, 05:31I don't like the idea of a 2 year deal. There are many political and conspiracy theory threads on here.
Would it be too much to ask people not to hijack a thread on the strikes with geopolitical theories?

So we now have our British Obama! And nothing changed: very quick to recognise Jerusalem as capital of Israel (Australia just changed their minds)
* Quick to parrot the same line as Boris and Liz - it is all because of Putin's war... blah blah
Why do they call it Putin's war but when the West/NATO invade, it is divine intervention sanctioned by the whole world and according to 'rule-based order) (Order of the Imperial US of A).
So energy prices and food distribution networks and chain is affected by a conflict between just 2 countries. The same Russia that we only take 3% of their stuff and grains from Ukraine that we don't really really need; except for our almost non-existent Agric sector?
Good luck to him. But folks should not expect anything to change - if anything, Austerity 2.0 will be even harder! The Union's can forget it. And by the time of the general election, Labour will not win a landslide because their policies are the same and Tories will have got their acts together and the usual bribery here and there before a general election....

Massively different when you know the stats.Surreypostie wrote: ↑25 Oct 2022, 10:43Not really any different to when they travelled alone when we had 5am starts, just as dark and more likely to be a lot more people around in the evenings than at silly o'clock in the morning.walthmstowman wrote: ↑25 Oct 2022, 10:31Just a thought but has anybody given any thought about our female colleagues travelling home alone later at night .thefox wrote: ↑25 Oct 2022, 10:17100% true
Most attacks on women are in the dark later in the day.
Rm have way more women working for them now.
We weren’t out in the dark that long back then , these changes come in and some are looking at 4 hours plus in the dark , when councils are turning off street lights to save money.
It’s an absolutely insane idea when you realise just how many attacks women currently suffer.
We essentially become a place less safe for women to work and it’s not a debate.

Also you'll be working in the dark when you've already done 3-4 hours delivery work when you're tired, wet, cold and far more likely to have an accident.
Also most pubs weren't open at 7am and junkies don't tend to rise before lunchtime.
Anyone comparing early morning dark to early evening dark really hasn't thought things through.

Like it or not the reason we want a significant payrise has everything to do with Geopolitics.Woody Guthrie wrote: ↑25 Oct 2022, 12:00There are many political and conspiracy theory threads on here.

A shortage of energy means high inflation.
