Acas facilitation: Change and Pay Disputes
Following an invitation from ACAS, Royal Mail and CWU have agreed to jointly engage with ACAS facilitation in an attempt to resolve the current disputes on Pay and Change. There is a commitment on both sides to reach a resolution however we all acknowledge there are significant difficulties to overcome.
An opening session will now take place on Tuesday 25 October with the objective to reach an agreed approach for further facilitated talks.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Later starts are an issue for posties picking their kids up from school……it’s not fair on them they’d either have to pay for childcare or get another job. That would involve thousands of current workers!daveyeff wrote: ↑24 Oct 2022, 18:43talking to the rep on the picket line last Thursday, he said when the union agreed to merge the ''no strings'' pay claim with their ''change' plans. there was a mention from their side of a 2 yr deal with 6% 1st yr, and 5% the 2nd yr. this was the money that was claimed might be available until Thompson put his oar in. but he says we would absolutely HAVE to accept some of their changes being brought in. maybe relent some of the sick pay arrangements and later starts. but everybody on the line said they would definitely NOT accept annualised hours or compulsory Sundays. so we'll see if that was true over next few weeks/months

I've got an office full of members who are growing more disillusioned with each week. So far we've managed keep a 100% of OPG's from crossing the picket line (including the non-members). As least this news is something to report in the form of progress.
I've said on here before, if we strike through November, Royal Mail are screwed for Christmas. Their in a desperate position; Simon was booted out of the talks by his own board.

I hope that crap is just what Simon's team proposed and Dave Ward almost collapsed from laughing too much. If the union even considers agreeing to a huge real terms pay cut this year, with another the next and worse terms and conditions to go along with the pay cuts then, for the first time in my working life, I won't be a union member any longer.daveyeff wrote: ↑24 Oct 2022, 18:43talking to the rep on the picket line last Thursday, he said when the union agreed to merge the ''no strings'' pay claim with their ''change' plans. there was a mention from their side of a 2 yr deal with 6% 1st yr, and 5% the 2nd yr. this was the money that was claimed might be available until Thompson put his oar in. but he says we would absolutely HAVE to accept some of their changes being brought in. maybe relent some of the sick pay arrangements and later starts. but everybody on the line said they would definitely NOT accept annualised hours or compulsory Sundays. so we'll see if that was true over next few weeks/months

Re: Cwu
Whatever deal is agreed it seems likely we'll take a pay cut as there's no way RM are going to pay 10%+, personally I'd take 6% as long as the changes to the T&C's are watered down and annualised hours are kicked into touch. I'm not sure we need to be worrying about next years pay rise, unless we can get an agreement there will be no further proposed changes to the T&C's.Schiff wrote: ↑24 Oct 2022, 19:36I hope that crap is just what Simon's team proposed and Dave Ward almost collapsed from laughing too much. Daveyeff not true. We stated that the it would be mad not to look at a 2 year deal especially where inflation is at present. The company have not offered any new pay rise. However we have more red lines then the Russian Army. However in negotiations there is no such thing as a one side agreement.
The key is what are Royal Mail concessions and what are ours. For those who are concerned about ACAS please remember they are facilitating talks they are making decisions on these negotiations.

Thompson has an obsession for using Acas for over a month and I think we can all agree it’s not because he wants peace with the union and negotiate a fair settlement. He obviously feels it’s a way to get things in his favour, he will walk into the talks with a big file full of spreadsheets showing why the business is skint and needs all his proposed changes urgently, and Acas will most likely agree.

One of the most important decisions is surely that we must still have a FINISH TIME. We cannot be out all hours delivering mail, especially in the dark.

Keep it going guys. No good will gestures. The strikes continue until a binding satisfactory agreement is made. The CEO is not an honourable man or trustworthy.
