Hello is this Simon again? Your annualised salary bit is part of what we're striking against?
Its one of the parts yes and not one of the bigger issues being discussed Im sure!!!

Im guessing you'll be working that extra hour in November and December as it is? Overtime is not compulsory. But you'll be finished an hour earlier in the summer, when the weather is better and you can spend that extra time doing that outdoor activity or whatever you enjoy doing.

Are you telling me that the union shouldn't be negotiating with the company and it should be a blanket no to everything that's being discussed? Whatever happens there will be changes. Like I said already, I like routine and I hate change, but something will have to give. If they somehow agreed that Sundays are a no, later starts are a no, a decent pay rise gets agreed, I wont continue to strike over annualized salaries.
Why will I be working that extra hr in November and December? I dont make any time in summer
So you dont work any overtime? Nothing wrong with that. With annualized salary you work that extra hour in the 2 winter months when its busy and an hour less in the summer months when its quiet. Is that a real hardship?
I also am over most days on a seven hour duty so not sure how this would work. I leave mail/cuoff most days now and this was the case even before last autumns revisions!

Some people will not be able to work extra
Over an 8 hr day for whatever reason
5 hr delivery spans without breaks are also taking a toll
Which has not been health and safety risk assessments done
On the effects of continued work practises
As again why they people out the door with attendance changes to stop the industrial injury claims going in

And remember, according to the CWU, their plan is for all large parcels to go to the hub offices to be delivered by owner drivers on new contracts so we are all looking at bigger duties and more time spent walking.

Even with only having to work an extra hour in the winter period, add in the 3 hour later starts, you won’t be finishing till 4 hours later than we do now. As it is, with a finish time of 2.40, I’m never home till gone 4.00. That’s now. Do you really want me to not be home till 8.00 at night? Am I working to live or living to work? Sod what they want

You will be just like the saddos who start 2 hours early for free. You’ll be out there until it’s all done, maybe 9 pm so you might be doing a 10 or 11 hour day like the early starters are now. Same money, so you’ll be on about £7 an hour after tax. If you think so little of yourself to be a slave good luck to you. I’m out.

Its each to their own of course but I'm suprised to say the least that a postie has suggested pretty much exactly what RM are suggesting and what many couldn't possibly stomach

Neither I, or any of my colleagues, need to work any harder whenever someone is off sick. Thats a problem for management not us.

We work our hours and go home.

I suggest you do the same.

So let me guess, you will only accept an inflation 10% pay rise and everything else to remain the same?? Good luck.

Here, I'm all up for that also but I live in the real world and accept that something might have to give. Simon Thompson is a complete joke. The quicker he leaves the better. Im striking for that very reason. But whoever replaces him, they will want to change things also. Unfortunately companies change. Its the business we are in.

Sundays, hell no. Later starts, hell no. Sick pay at £250 million a year and rising. Yeah lets keep things the same. Same people every year playing the system. Might take a few months off myself and live it up for a bit. Why not reward those that come in every week with a bonus instead of bending over and letting the, "Ive got a runny nose brigade" more time off on full pay.
An extra hour in the winter, hour less in the summer. Sounds like a right nightmare. Try telling your local Asda or Tesco driver delivering your groceries on a Saturday night at 10pm whos on at least £2 a hour less than you that story. He'll laugh in your face.

The union will fight on our behalf. They will, but they wont get everything you want. The sooner people realise that the quicker you can get out of cloud nine.

Pretty certain RM announced a similar plan,w/o the owner driver part, including even naming all the chosen parcel hubs, not sure what's happened to that plan as it never seems to have been rolled out.

Always makes me laugh when people like you go on about the sickness levels and pin it and the door of your colleagues.

If the annual leave system and in particular the ad-hoc days leave was much better , the sickness levels would be much better.

For that you’d need adequate staffing but rm don’t want to acknowledge that.

I tell people how our annual leave works and they think it’s a joke , “what do you mean you need to know what week in 18 months you need off”

As for being 3 times the national average , maybe look at our equipment, how far we walk and in what conditions and how many cut h&s corners.

Those are the reasons the sick levels are high and only a small percentage of that play the system.

Are you suggesting Asda tesco drivers shifts are crap ? They might be but how does making our delivery shifts also crap help anyone? Cant comment on how things would affect processing as I havnt done that side of things for years
