Well the last time in 2019, Royal Mail took the CWU to court and got the ballot thrown out, only because they argued that people had been opening their CWU ballots at work, and were pressured into voting a certain way in the workplace, so the ballot was deemed invalid by the court. But yeah, I don't think there's currently anything in place that says we can't.
Again, I think it does serve the CWU if this becomes a wider political issue, most industries that have been privatised under the Tories, have been run down, and are now more expensive for a worse service. So imo an early GE would be a boon for us.
In terms of a no confidence motion being the only way to force a General Election, I agree it's highly unlikely. But the calls for a GE are becoming louder and louder by the day. We can rule out this current PM calling a snap election, but she'll be lucky to last another couple of weeks, the next Tory leader would have absolutely no mandate whatsoever, so the calls for a GE would be deafening.
