On our section there was 6 walks, now down to 4.My walk has from 400 to 700 the biggest walk on my section. The other 3 walks has only 500 drops. Some of the roads they have put on mine, fine if u have a car, but if not u have to get the bus to the next drop.
One walk in redditch had 800 drops. The union has knocked that pegasus plan on the head.
Someone for the past 6 mts has got paid for messing up our walks and it has lead to nothing :mad :mad :mad
Two managers have spent the last six months trying to find a way of getting Pegasus to reduce the number of walks in my office, and have failed to do it. The DOM is now binning Pegasus and is having a go at table top planning to get his reduction. The office is still trying to recover from his last round of Feck-ups, when he tried equalising the walks. Part of his plan to make savings is getting people to cover sick and anual leave for nothing! :evil/mad It make you sick, especially when they managed to find 200 useless twats to cover 100 Burslem workers. :arrrghhh :arrrghhh
exact same thing happening in our office
why dont they just spen a week out with every walk. time it from day to day

Dopey Posties

The Pegasus revision is up and running, and clearly not working.DO's are being harrassed and threatened with performance warnings, and some have had their start times changed by half an hour so they have an extra half an hour on the road. That makes a 4 hour delivery. And the posties concerned rolled over and took it...!!! Cant wait til we get a rep for our office...

I believe that one offs are ok but if it becomes regular on a particular duty then the DOM is meant to come up with a plan to sort it out,

You CAN NOT make/plan a delivery duty that makes the last letter past 2pm.
But like teebs said,it does happen, say because of it being belated and the like.

Right... regards Pegasus it appears that the planner makes up the rules as he goes along!! There must surely be some national guidelines regards walk speeds, penetration rate, attendance call rate and finally human contact!!! U may laugh at the last one but its a valid point!!! :funneh
It seems Pegasus is being used as a savings tool for managers and railroaded in to acheive the savings desired...Our office is up in arms at the moment regards Pegasus and just don't want it but know its gonna come in regardless!!
I believe the original idea of Pegasus was to make all rounds even and fair from RM's perspective as well as us posties.. It seems it has been abused terribly and really I desperately cud do with some accurate figures on the affore said factors.
I really am a true believer in being fair and showing integrity, but all that seems to have gone out of the window so far with Pegasus!!!!!

Pegasus has been in operation in our office this year, and while it has made more of the walks "fairer", there are a few walks per division that are totally worse - which makes a mockery of the whole process as RM have done NOTHING to correct the problem.

I agree that this is a money saving tool, where each office can set the time (given to walk between properties) to suit their own money saving budget.

Its just SO wrong how pegasus can be used to the managers advantage!! :mad

This really is the ultimate, as regards tools for the job as far as RM is concerned "the stick to beat us with!" that is :nervous

We all have the sticks to beat them back though - doing your job properly, following your 318, working to your time or doing docket to suit you, not your managers. Perfectly simple......and if others want to dance to RMs tune, more fool them!

We were told by the Union before Pegasus came in, that jobs would probably end up being put in rather than taken out. In the end the MAXIMUM number of jobs were taken out as a result and the vast majority of walks were made longer.

Question is - What new ways will RM use to save money in 2009/10?

None what so ever as far as I know!!!!!!

If there wasa aggrment made then some offices would need their revisions re doing and deliveries put back in as the criteria would be more generous.

Pegasus come with two walk speeds the slowest one has been switched off but can be overridden has 1.7% attendance calls rate and in my area is set at 88% call rate which is 440 calls on a 500 DP deliverey. The terms of reference agreed for my area come with a clause that if a postcode area/deliverey can demonstrate its going over 88% call rate and thats the norm then this needs to be taken into account. Weve also gota 12 week review written into the aggrement

Hi Bigdaz, I had to laugh when you said you have a 12 week review connected to pegasus. So did we and i can tell you it aint worth the paper it's written on.Let me qoute you our doms statement nearly a year after the new pegasus walks have been implemented. "Pegasus has completly f--cked this office up but the powers above me will not allow me to put any duties back in.". So the way it works now is people cut off every day and the managers complete the walks in the afternoon. This has now become the norm and the head honcho's are quite happy with this because all they are concerned about is the balance sheet now shows there are less duties in the office than a year ago and that is the bottom line. You can of course do what we have done and wave pieces off paper under their noses with agreements on and all they do is wave a bigger piece back in your face pointing out clauses that you and your union voted for in the flexible working agreement which always brings any meeting to an abrupt end.
