£3.44 a week in union fees X 115000+ Members X 52 Weeks= Over 20 million a year. Where does this go every year?

Bin men in Scotland were getting paid upto £90 a day from their union when they went on strike. Dockers were getting paid for striking.

Whats this hardship fund thats been mentioned? 20 million a year. There must be money in the pot to help balance out the wage loss for members????????

You can knock at least 6.000 off that figure with Royal Mail's announcement this morning of between 6,000 to 10,000 postman's jobs going .

In our office we who strike are not allowed to do overtime to make up for wages lost. It's perhaps why half the office cross the picket line.

I don't believe there has been a decree from on high concerning banning strikers from doing Over Time. We've got OT coming out of our asses, if you want it, so it's not nationwide.

I'd suspect that it's more likely a personal brain wave by your DOM to punish Strikers. What's your Rep doing about it? Has he even asked him about it? Start throwing a few "I'm thinking of putting in a Grievance for Discrimination" type comments and see what he says. You are NOT doing anything illegal by Striking, so why is he treating you like this. IMO Totally out of order! Good Luck with getting it ssorted

Do you own a calculator? Are you aware how many union members there are? Do the maths.

Hasn’t been a strike for 13 years tho, a nice tidy sum could of been building up with interest for this very scenario, but nobody in this union thought about that

You are right, it is to punish the strikers. I don't want the overtime at the moment so it doesn't affect me. The union rep has been ill for ages but was fairly hopeless when he was here. The others who strike, what's left of them, are more principled and do their time and cut off, like we all should.
