CWU plan if this dispute lasts longer than 12 weeks

Post by Murdoch »

So with the announcement today, it sure does signal that Royal Mail will not budge.

Given that the legal protections for striking workers *not being sacked" only lasts for 12 weeks from the start of the dispute. What's the plan beyond this?

It's clear that part of Royal Mail's tactics is to continually push the "ACAS" option, I think the Union is also aware that this is not a genuine offer to negotiate. Therefore, it's purpose must only be to give the illusion that RM we're attempting to resolve the dispute.

My concern is that RM frequently run rings round the union, and I suspect they'd be delighted if the dispute runs for longer than 12 weeks, as they could then consider "fire and rehire", and probably legally get away with it.

Thoughts?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
