This company is disgusting. I'm not a lifer, 5 years on the job now, so I've worked in plenty of other places and let me tell you, the way this company is treating us is the worst display of hostile management I've ever seen.

The easiest solution at this point, for people like me at least who still have about 25 years to work, is to just find another job where you're not treated like sub-human scum to be subjugated and denigrated at all times.

Where are they even going to get this?

Is there even a single office in the country that isn't already running short staffed or failing the USO on a near daily basis?

There's all this talk of 'revisions' but you can revise all you want, there's only so much staff can do in a day - whether they're FT Royal Mail staff or agency staff.

They're been trying to force two peoples work into one for years, now they're going to make it three or four in some offices - it's ludicrous, even those idiots that come in early and run around, skip breaks etc won't be able to do it.

And for anyone wondering why it won't target anything other than deliveries and processing - the rest of the business is even more short staffed, if you cut more jobs in some areas they literally won't function anymore, they were the advance wave of forcing people to work to cover three jobs.

Where do I sign !!
Don't build your hopes up of getting a nice payday, Royal Mail have said they can't afford to pay the current MTSF amounts (maximum of two years pay)

I’m in a very similar boat mate. 4 years with the company. It’s ridiculous because the job in and of itself is decent. But everything from management and upwards is an absolute s**t show. How can they justify giving COMS a pay rise and then attack the workers?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

There are people in my office that have already started applying for jobs and are hoping to be out by Christmas. Some more have said that if RM goes through with all their changes then they would start looking for jobs next year. I imagine it's the same in other offices. All of them have 20 or more years left before retirement and can't see themselves staying in RM until then. On top of that you have the usual number of people leaving through retirement, ill health etc.. Senior staff will jump at VR. So I wouln't worry about being forced out.

https://channelx.world/2022/10/10000-jo ... royal-mail

Royal Mail have announced 5,000 job losses by March 2023, 10,000 by August 2023, and that up to 6,000 of the job losses will be forced redundancies from frontline roles in delivery and processing. Oh.. and Royal Mail say that they can no longer afford to pay their normal redundancy terms which offered up to two years’ full pay and will consult with the CWU on worsened redundancy packages.

hopefully the voluntary redundancy procedure is done fair, said part timers can apply to so some hope for them, hopefully they will give everyone out a letter telling them roughly how much they would get if they were to apply for it

Every office is under staffed
Exactly . In my mail centre we were understaffed yet management still went ahead and let people go with EVR. I heard they still want at least another 21 to go . The way I'm feeling I think I could be one of those to leave . It seems like every year we come under attack and now I'm growing tired of it .

Thopson is dangerous.

Threatening his already suffering staff with redundancy in a mental health awareness week shows the measure of the man.
he is a little wank.

Surely the first person to go should be Simon. He has taken a company making in excess of £750 million and turned it into a company losing 1 million a day!
I totally agree . It just goes to show anybody can destroy a company . You don't need any talent and just look at the money he's on .

CWU

The announcement from Royal Mail Group today is nothing more than their latest misjudged scare tactic.
They genuinely believe they can threaten you into submission.
Below is a statement we have issued to the media.

We CWU will meet Royal Mail Group today because we continue to act in good faith.
We will also bring you a fuller update from the unions leadership later as well.
#StandByYourPost

CWU General Secretary Dave Ward said: “The announcement is the result of gross mismanagement and a failed business agenda of ending daily deliveries, a wholesale levelling-down of the terms, pay and conditions of postal workers, and turning Royal Mail into a gig economy style parcel courier.
“What the company should be doing is abandoning its asset-stripping strategy and building the future based on utilising the competitive edge it already has in its deliveries to 32 million addresses across the country.
“The CWU is calling for an urgent meeting with the Board and will put forward an alternative business plan at that meeting.
“This announcement is holding postal workers to ransom for taking legal industrial action against a business approach that is not in the interests of workers, customers or the future of Royal Mail. This is no way to build a company

No-one here is going to get VR.
Back room and admin staff only.
Quite the opposite looking at the business brief.
