If it was just Simon who wanted to change he would get overruled by others. Maybe a few in disagreement but the majority of higher up's must be in agreement with how he's doing thing's. Businesses don't just get run by 1 person alone.

He is the highest of the highest the Chairman Mr Keith Williams just over sees the business like the KING The CEO or Chief Executive Officer is the Prime minister of the Royal Mail like it or not. They do have shareholders but not one yet controls more than 1/4. If anyone is to blame it is him and him alone!

So are you saying that the board of directors are in disagreement with Simon but Simon just doesn't care and keeps pushing his plan through? The board can out him if he goes against their interests. Many examples of this with other companies.
The example you gave of the prime minister. What happened to the previous prime minister when drank a few beers in lockdown? Outed by his peers. The group at large has more say than the front man who delivers the message.

Probably the most famous example is of Steve Jobs being removed as CEO of apple because of the board being in disagreement with him & he was also Co founder. Wouldn't think it's possible to kick a founder out but it happened.

i believe its the board of directors that set the agenda along with the top guys (ceo, coo, cfo etc)Simon like Rico implement it.

Just like our delightful COMs implement what their higher up's want. Our COM sometimes open up and cries about what hes tasked to do. Sometimes we can squeezed for a little more blood....other times we tell him to tell his boss we said feck off.

Moyà Greene tried to cut sick pay by threatening no pay for the first 3 days of absence. Narrowly avoided strike action by agreeing the Agenda for Growth deal, knowing she was leaving anyway.
Rico Back tried to pick a fight with the union, and ended up stepping down to appease major shareholders.
Simon Thompson is trying to cut sick pay & is trying to force things through by executive action.
Three CEOs all adopting similar tactics?

Exactly, we can fight hard against it & hopefully slow down their proposed changes but they will eventually get them all through. This company will be completely different in 15 years unless the government buy's it back. Start learning a skill in something is the best bet so we can have something to fall back on.
