Re: Latest update from CWU & Royal Mail
What is winning? What is losing?
Every time we have conceded something, is that losing?
Every time they have not got everything they wanted, is that winning?
A no strings pay rise is dead in the water. If you think different, you are deluded.
We are negotiating a deal. I have no doubt it will be a million miles from what most of us want.

Re: Latest update from CWU & Royal Mail
In our office There's plenty of people wanting to work on Sunday so let them carry on so long as the rest of us don't have to but as far as working later stuff that we should be working towards 35hrs per week as per previous agreement quality of life is more important we all work frigging hard enough as it is and another 5% pay rise on top of the 2% the least we deserve but I'm not hopeful that will happen but one thing is for sure I'll not cross the picket line looking forward to hear what the cwu have to say on Wednesday

Sorry to burst your bubble but it won't be that good .daveyeff wrote: ↑10 Oct 2022, 19:24now its coupled, it could be another 4.5%, giving 6.5. they reinstate the agreements they ripped up, and pull the 'annualised' hours and the sick pay attack. they''ll get the rest of the shite in, Sundays and later starts. union will claim a victory, another deal of the century. .....sorry, just thinking out loud.![]()

It’s called a negotiating tactic unfortunately.Surreypostie wrote: ↑10 Oct 2022, 21:43Martin Walsh said on here a few days ago there isn't going to be a pay increase without change, he also mentioned the possibility of a 2 year deal, we didn't vote for either of those things. That to me says we have lost.cobrakai wrote: ↑10 Oct 2022, 21:40If they have started going against the ballot then I agree. However we have changed lots of things over the years without a vote, we put money in to the momentum campaign away from the traditional Labour Party and that was never put to the membership. I don’t like the enough is enough thing either (I obviously agree with the sentiment) it dosent sit right with me that it is promoted by the cwu media man and seems to piggyback off our industrial action, this pseudo political venture was never mentioned to the members before it’s launch.daveyeff wrote: ↑10 Oct 2022, 21:07My mate phoned me tonight saying surely it can't be legal to change a democratic vote by members. Union represents what members want and vote for, and we voted massively in favour of a 'no strings pay award' not linked to change....that was a separate vote. I have no clue. So I said I would ask on here.
We voted for a no strings payrise. It’s what we deserve sadly I think that we are about to change forever for the worst.
You really think that we are going to get a no strings inflation level payrise without some concessions?
I think working Sunday’s as part of your contract with some amendments to the sickpay benefits is a given. All that remains to be seen is what we the workers would be getting in return in terms of an actual payrise for such massive changes to our working conditions. You would hope that it’s at least another 5-6% on top of the already imposed 2% or a slightly less % increase with a lump sum attached.
Either way I think there’s going to be a lot of disappointed cwu members.

If you don't drive you won't be doing Sundays, even under some guise of it not being fair that you 'miss out'.
Where this becomes an issue is in offices where you've got a large amount of non driving staff and they want 1/4 of all the staff in each Sunday.

i can think of about 17 off the top of me head who don't drive at our office out of 80 odd people, am sure theres about another 4 or 5 though. so about quarter of our office doesn't drive.

Re: Latest update from CWU & Royal Mail
Can't see RM paying someone to ride shotgun ... especially when every other courier generally has one to a van for parcels...

Re: Latest update from CWU & Royal Mail
Makes no sense to have 2 in a van doing parcels when 1 will do. The complexity of how many extra parcels they should be given would be too much for the number crunchers to handle. Besides, you'd then need to give the 'shotgun' another day off during the week.2yearpostie wrote: ↑11 Oct 2022, 17:59Its ok they will be riding shot gun so the driver can take extra parcels ( think p&l but with parcels)
For an example office with 1/4 of staff not driving, your 1 in 4 Sundays worked suddenly ups to 1 in 3. Add in annual leave/sickness and it could easily go to 2 out of 5, remember they want to be able to give you just a couple of weeks notice of your shifts.

Especially when the demand for parcels on a Sunday isn't there yet ...

Non drivers in our office been told in the past by managers RM can't force them to drive, and we are a LETTERS and parcels company, despite what Simon says, or wants to believe...
