Just a side point, but a quick question as I've seen it pop up a few times.

Aren't vehicle checks on the PDA mandatory? A few times I've seen them mentioned in a way that people aren't doing them to cut corners etc, in our office if you don't do them there are pretty severe consequences.

Think that there'll be a new Tory leadership contest before we get a General Election. Don't know if they'll change the rules so that a new leader is voted for only by Tory MPs

No there won’t be, they’ll be a vote of no confidence long before that happens and they cannot change the rules regarding who picks their leader as the consequences are absolutely massive.

Nobody on this site is an employment law specialist. RM must love all these rumours and misinformation flying about. IT NEEDS TO STOP. The number of members speculating about what if issues is now ridiculous. It adds no value to our solidarity and support of our union.

As to introducing annualised hours and signing in / signing out our managers at my centre (300 + employees) couldn't organise a f*** up in a brothel. They do not have the IT skills nor the management thinking to introduce and monitor something so big.

We don't even have paper signing on sheets most days. Never mind fire and rehire postmen it's managers they'll need to rehire.

My manager threatened everyone with conduct code if they don’t do their van checks. To be fair he’s been going on about it for weeks now.

There’s no excuse not to do them.

If the union are saying a pay rise without strings is a non starter then, unless I'm mistaken, why are we striking this week for a pay rise then subsequent weeks for "change"? I don't understand why Simon Thompson can't just say which changes RM want to impose as they are clearly not going to impose all of them.

I mean she technically was or was at least in final 2.

I can’t walk you through exactly how all of this happens and the way these things work within the Tory party but she got the backing of enough mp’s to go to the membership.

Borris was chosen by the membership too and they all have been since about 97 because Hague changed it to prevent another John major who had the longest zombie government in living memory.

In a way the MPs did choose Truss as PM because they were well aware the Tory Party membership as a whole would not support Rishi Sunak.

Sunak only made it to the final round to make sure whoever they decided to put against him got in.

They did the same with Jeremy Hunt against Boris.

I think it's called tactical voting or gaming the system if you like.

She still almost f****d it up with her awful TV debates, that's why they pulled out of the final one.
