I only doorstep at the remote delivery points such as farm houses but not exposing the item to the elements

How about the family pet chewing it open and eating something toxic?

It isn't your time you're saving, it's RMs.

You don't have to worry about those things just follow the current instructions.

Keep getting told not to do it, but they do it, it gets stolen, customer complains, postie says customer gave permission to leave in safe place, customer denies & claims compo form RM, posty runs to rep for help, RM see an easy way of reducing costs, rep tries to save silly posties job who claims he didn't realise the severity of his stupidity, RM sacks postie for gross misconduct & another 40 hours saved without paying an EVR.
End of fairy tale.
OOOPPSS, it's not a fairy tale, IT'S F***KIN REALITY.
DON'T GIVE THEM A REASON TO GET YOU, IF THEY CAN THEY WILL.
DO THE JOB PROPERLY, FOR YOUR OWN SAKE & DON't CUT CORNERS.

If it looks like an expensive item I always leave it with neighbour. Nobody ever complains aslong as its not of great value. You can normally tell if it is as the sticker on it normally tells you.
If I doorstep I normally put it at the back door or behind a plant or sumthing. I'll also write a little note on a letter. Had no complaints.
Lets just for arguments sake say that the packet you threw through the upstairs window landed on a gas heater and then set fire to the house - wold that have been clever?

Why not just follow the correct procedure and leave a card? In that way you will never get a complaint.
