I asked before and never got an answer, but if the union are taking 10 million pounds a year in subs, why can’t we have a strike fund?

I did a quick calculation based on the 2.60 per week I pay, 80,000 x :2.60 is 208,000 x 52 = 10.8 million per year and we haven’t been on strike for 13 years? If I’m way off track here, I hold my hands up

I'm beginning to think this ends with us being beaten and the company broken up . I was told by a work mate this morning the takeover by Faisal is going ahead but I don't know how true that is .Has anybody else heard this same news ?

My gut feeling is that if the group does get broken up, it'll be GLS and PF splitting off from RM

provided a link to CWU accounts for 2019 (there'll be a newer set somewhere but I'll let someone else find them if required).

The headline income from member subscriptions and contributions was 29,410,909. (Don't forget that includes BT etc and all
the other workforces CWU represent) BUT the biggest CWU cost at page 10 was 'Admin Costs' totalling 27,780,432 so almost the value of contributions - part of which was Stationery, printing, postage, telephone etc over 2 mill!

I'd like to see a bit more forceful representation from the TUC for the half a mill we give to them and what is the benefit of the quarter mill we pass
on to 'Union Network International affiliation' ? Just asking.

On page 5 there actually is a 'Dispute Benefits' with a sub-category of Strike Support expenditure of just under 12k. Wonder what that
was for?

So they spend all the money they get every year all 29 million of it bar 1.5 million and they spend 2.4 on stationary lol

Unfortunately people at our place are giving up strike next week apart from a hardcore few. Apparently last week’s strike saw most go in and just sat around doing d2ds and dead Mail and other basic jobs then go home at 1 o’clock on full pay whilst about a third of us were striking, now several part timers are saying what’s the point when full timers are going in getting paid, and show no fights, I get where they’re coming from as it should be all out but it appears like it’s starting to get too drawn out for a lot of people now, I can compared to most keep doing it as I probably can afford it more than them but how many people realistically are going to keep on striking?

So what they are saying with their feet is they are up for having all their terms and conditions destroyed by management . When that happens no doubt they will blame the union.

WOW this is not the end we have only just started our opposition just because someone owns a shareholding majority does not make them a king! The CEO sets the strategy of the business but this guy is not doing a very good job at the moment perhaps a change in the CEO would get better results? The bottom line is you need good motivated staff not turnover of staff as performance will never improve and this CEO is not MR Motivator more like MR BEAN!
