Is this confirmation of Royal Mails plans to fire & rehire?

Post by The Postman »

Was reading through the AGM transcript from 20th July 2022 and seen this under Section IV Group Overview, Part 2 Employees - this is taken directly from the transcript

"We’re confident that if our people work with us to make the changes we’re asking for now, we can offer jobs to all of them or all that want a job on terms that will continue to be industry leading."

Does this mean that it's been ST's plan to force the union into striking so that he can fire and rehire after 12 weeks of no resolution after all?

If so surely the legality of this must be under question?

If that happened i would think that they would have to pay you off if you didn't want a new contract.

I would never put a F&R past them but think you’re over analysing here OP.

It’s just their way of saying that a sh.it sick pay policy and compulsory overtime is still better than working for Amazon.

All they need to do is change the job title and invite people to apply for their renamed jobs. Take it or leave it.
