They would probably leave it till early in the New Year to dismiss staff, once the Christmas peak has been done and dusted.DGH wrote: ↑04 Oct 2022, 20:35Royal Mail could dismiss people after 12 weeks. But they'd have to dismiss everyone who was striking or face unfair dismissal claims. I'd suggest that sacking most of the workforce 5 weeks before Christmas would be a somewhat bold move.2yearpostie wrote: ↑04 Oct 2022, 14:26
Also after 12 weeks ( around 18th nov) RM can legally start dismissing people who strike. . .
After 12 weeks, you can be dismissed if you take industrial action and your employer has tried to settle the dispute. For example, your employer may bring in advisers from Acas to help find a solution.
Probably best not to snippet from the Gov.UK site in case you give a misleading impression.

I would also point out that people that work weekend shifts don't loose Any money on the next round of strikes!chrisj wrote: ↑04 Oct 2022, 20:08Hopefully with Dave Ward and Terry also losing their jobs... They have also failed to find the right way or solutions. All they have lumbered us with us strikes and they and we are still being ignored. In fact, the sher price is going up.
The October strikes are just a waste effort and money for us. Every single strike is on a Wednesday - royal now knows how to deal with such strikes and it is also on the same day throughout October.
Two of the strikes in November for delivery staff will favour someone on a Wednesday day off, followed by a Thursday off. What rubbish planning is that?
These clowns at the CWU are not really fighting for us but their own survival... They have no clue how it will end!
When it ends, we will find out that we are no really better off. A bit of begging and finding ways out to dampen the changes will have helped; not confrontational approach and childish insults on social media

2yearpostie wrote: ↑04 Oct 2022, 14:26Only the hardcore union members will continue to be able to afford to strike after this month. Anyone with kids, a mortgage etc will not be wanting to sacrifice those things especially if a cold winter and christmas period happens.

ST is just waiting and will plough on regardless.
https://www.gov.uk/industrial-action-st ... 20solution.
You can claim unfair dismissal at an employment tribunal if you’re dismissed for taking industrial action at any time within the 12 weeks after the action began.
After 12 weeks, you can be dismissed if you take industrial action and your employer has tried to settle the dispute. For example, your employer may bring in advisers from Acas to help find a solution.
In delivery, we have only been going on strike one or two days a week so that as members we don't lose out too much financially and still keep continue putting pressure on Royal Mail. There is no legal requirement to stop striking after 12 weeks but the protections are considerably less. So I wonder if nothing is resolved after the first 3 months then the CWU could put forward yet another ballot? Maybe fewer workers may not vote to walk out again and the strike could lose a bit of its momentum.
However, workers are not powerless because employers are very unlikely to get rid of a whole workforce and whilst workers still withdraw their labour the company's source of profit is reduced. Regardless of RMM involving ACAS there is still a lot of bad feeling regarding this current CEO and many of the underhand things that he is doing that I believe many posties will be in this for the long haul. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for Simon Thompson.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

A third of the office on strike?!?matthew68 wrote: ↑04 Oct 2022, 19:22Unfortunately people at our place are giving up strike next week apart from a hardcore few. Apparently last week’s strike saw most go in and just sat around doing d2ds and dead Mail and other basic jobs then go home at 1 o’clock on full pay whilst about a third of us were striking, now several part timers are saying what’s the point when full timers are going in getting paid, and show no fights, I get where they’re coming from as it should be all out but it appears like it’s starting to get too drawn out for a lot of people now, I can compared to most keep doing it as I probably can afford it more than them but how many people realistically are going to keep on striking?
That is disgraceful, but probably a sign of things to come.

Simple, keep supporting strike action, as we go into next month it will really turn the screw in our favour ahead of RMs critical trading period. Sacrificing a few days pay for our long term future is an absolute no brainer even in these cash strapped times. Stay strong everyone.

OK I'll bite. Who is in charge of the secret "planning", who are the footsoldiers carrying the secret "plan" out without letting on, and why do they want to do it?LaggyBand wrote: ↑04 Oct 2022, 20:39Eh up another one! Ok. David Rockerfeller starts up Trilateral Commission, fronted up by Zbigniew Brzezinski and Henry Kissinger. Henry Kissinger puts up Klaus Schwab as top dog at World Economic Forum. WEF tasked with bringing in UBI, CBDCs, and an end to private ownership.sindba wrote: ↑04 Oct 2022, 21:36OK I'll bite. WEF coordinate national economic policy through its young global leaders program, notable figures include Jacinda Ardern, Justin Trudeau, Joe Biden, Boris Johnson, Ursula Von Der Leyen, amongst others. For your purposes you can assume anyone you’ve heard use the phrase “build back better” is owned or “aligned” with WEF.
Specific enough?

Not really. You've just said Some Names and been a bit wierd. And you haven't said what the "plan" is, and how all those very different leaders will achieve it, or how they manage to keep it secret.LaggyBand wrote: ↑04 Oct 2022, 21:50Ok. I asked before and never got an answer, but if the union are taking 10 million pounds a year in subs, why can’t we have a strike fund?

Pensions
Attendance patterns
Annual leave
Sick pay
Start times
Sunday’s
Allowances
IHR
Redundancy
The list above is not exhaustive. I cannot believe people are willing to give these things up so meekly.

If we take all the action that has been announced in financial terms it’s about a £1500 loss of pay. Imagine slipping on delivery and breaking your ankle that puts you on the sick for 10 weeks, if we lose this dispute RM will have you on statutory sick pay (£90 ish PW) which means in that 10 wk period alone you would be around £3000 down from what you would receive currently.
Me and my wife both work for RM, we have 3 kid’s and a mortgage and undoubtedly the strikes will be very difficult financially and mentally but it has to be done.
Across our branch/area the strike is 100% solid. Striking is our only chance to save our hard fought, over generations, T&Cs and dignity in the workplace.
It’s a fight we may lose but if we don’t fight we will definitely lose.
